I do art sometimes. Not much recently.
Here is a blog (http://tegsdumbart.blogspot.com/). Here is a DA (http://tegannobody.deviantart.com/).
Lately I find that I'm drawing a lot of fanart, which is uncharacteristic for me. I make a point of changing styles as constantly and drastically as possible. Here are some things.
self portrait (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_k7qsPykUx24/S5phYrDux4I/AAAAAAAAAGA/Fq9pry5uxvY/s1600-h/self1save2.png)

Heh. I like the self-portrait on your blog ::D:
-
well that only took forever to turn into something other than an assortment of broken jpegs
I have another thing to post tonight
-
Cloneboy Highbop is best ever.

I drew this out back at work this afternoon. HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I WATCHED WAKFU RECENTLY BECAUSE I DON'T THINK I DID
-
A++

This is some of the best art I've ever seen. That latest picture is pretty amazing.
-
Ooh! I like that one!
-
I'm making myself some SWEET WALL ART.
Illustrator is great for doing nice pixel art.
The art for the original Super Mario Bros. box appears to have been painted freehand, because no matter what, there's no way to make Mario match his exact position on the box without skewing everything. Since this isn't meant to be an exact replica of the boxart anyway (I considered adding the speed lines, title, etc, but I found them too visually distracting), I just tweaked Mario into what I thought was a good position (professional term: "close enough")
I have a .ai file that packages all of the elements of this picture, plus some that I left out (un-tilted and un-skewed Marios, some speed lines that I had been adding, etc) if anyone wants to try messing with it/print their own.
...You have no idea how much I miss having my scanner and tablet here.

Heavens to metroid!
I'll bet I could sell these things...
-
You should totally paint pixel art, like, on people's walls. I bet people would pay a bunch for a perfect representation of a metroid or mario scene on their wall. Plain colours are lame, we need to go back to the days of big art pieces on the wall, I forget the name.. starts with M, I think.
-
murals?
-
Yeah! That's it!
-
I want to make t-shirts, but I have this problem.
See how I go right to the edge? Yeah, nobody likes printing shirts like that. I've had a zazzle account set up for ages and never produced anything because I realized I couldn't do any edge-based designs.
I think I'll make my own with fabric paint and stencils.
-
Teg! We are fellow illustrator WARRIORS! Also you have clearly been doing art for a long, long time.
-
So I've been working on tiles for a dumb little RPG Maker game. I need suggestions for THINGS YOU WOULD FIND IN A MODERN CITY. Just any little background details that I can churn out would be great.
-
Billboards, street signs, a cat in a alleyway or two.
-
Dumpsters, half-open trash cans with fish skeletons hanging out, street lights, graffiti, a chinese food place with a neon sign in engrish
-
Dudes with pamphlets/Greenpeace volunteers trying to make eye contact with you at corners
-
Don't forget fresh well-prepared turkeys sitting behind dumpsters
-
blackjack.
hookers.
-
Hobos that give cryptic advice.
-
White people eyeing all the black people suspiciously
-
Alienation, despair, and crushing loneliness.
-
Tim Hortons.
-
Cardboard boxes and crates just stacked in alleys.
Litter
Eventual dead body in the alley.
Car parts randomly laying about.
-
Skeletonized bike husks chained to light poles with the frame still present but seat, wheels, gears, and handlebars absent.
-
Flaming barrels.
-
Aladdin - Prince Ali (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlFMupGpuho#)
-
I designed a thing.
I like it so much I gave my art blog a funky fresh new layout (http://tegsdumbart.blogspot.com/) to go with it.
-
I was bored, so I vectored a thing.
(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/CX-Neo/Donkey-Kong.png) (http://tegsdumbart.blogspot.com/2010/08/jumpman.html)

Nyeoow nyeeow nyeeow
-
I'd pay for a whole deck of cards designed like this.
-
You hear that, teg? You have a buyer!
-
Meh. Call me when the ivory sculpted chess sets start showing up.

i like the donkey kong one
-
You need to take the 'dumb' off your mind and website. Self-deprecation has its place, but not in self-promotion.
-
but I made the site like five years ago or some shit
WIP
(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89/CX-Neo/DSCF0003-2.jpg)
Either I FIGHT FOR THE USERS or I'm OUT TO GET THAT FULLMETAL BRAT; depending on your particular brand of nerdiness. I'm going to add more to the back and abdomen.
-
I WANT ONE
-
Looking really awesome.
-
Looking really PING PING PING PING
-
Finished!
There's a slight wrinkle on the edge of the "spine" that bugs me. Otherwise, I like it.
Also, when printing the back circle, I had enough of the page left over to print off another design. I think I'll go get another shirt so I can use it!
The stuff on the back isn't actually crooked, the shirt's just kind of thrown on the floor because I had no way of taking a good photo of my back.
Oh, and there's two of those abdominal details. You just can't see them both at the same time since they're on either side of the body.

I like this one.
-
It seems to be some sort of draconian mallard.

IT'S LEGO TIME
So the other day I was digging through my Lego bucket and found the cockpit of an old Gurren-Lagann-inspired model I made years ago. I always liked the cockpit/face, but thought the arms were merely serviceable and the legs uninspired. So I took the cockpit and rebuilt the rest with entirely new proportions. I completely changed up everything, going with comletely different hinges, a new style of hands I made up on the fly, etc. It's not as flexible as before, but it's taller and a lot sleeker. I think I need to play around with it a bit more (it also bugs me that there's ONE wrong-coloured part, but I won't say which one). But anyway, I'm quite pleased with it. Check it out (with bonus boring technical commentary):
FUCK YEAHR METAL
For the fingers I decided to use claw pieces adorned with 1/2 pins, something that I don't really see elsewhere. I'm one of the few who insists on three-fingered hands. and opposable thumbs at all costs. I should really add some blue to the thumbs, too.
The blue fingers work well with the (very had to see) dark blue thighs. I almost considered changing the thighs from the blue from the original model to a black variant, but it's too visually boring. Blue adds a nice kick to it.
I'm also really proud of those shoulder pieces. They're basically a trick to hide the kind of ridiculous shoulder joint I used to save space. It's sheer good fortune that they could be mounted in place.
Look at that face! The eybrows double as eyelids. They can independently open or shut, rotate, and slide in place. The highly expressive eyes more than compensate for the relatively static mouth, which simply hinges. I did have a prototype for a version with moving cheek plates, but it was impractically large for the model, and half-disassembled anyway.
Angry face! In case you're wondering, space mummy is piloting it because why the hell not. The pilot seat is quite comfortably made, and two control levers fit in the pilot's hands. The back swings open, but I didn't include any sort of ladder for the pilot. I have an unused space directly under the cockpit that I may use for just such a thing later.
The chain on the leg is just there for fun. Although I didn't pose the legs much for these photos, the knees bend quite well even with the chain, and the feet bend at both the ankles (which also swivel!) and toes. The model has 48 different intentional hinges or articulated points of one type or another, and about 137-ish (very very small) parts.
-
I think... I think when I was a kid, I made a space ship once.
Your robots kick my childhood in the ass.
-
Your childhood is only getting kicked in the ass because you don't have a nice stash of legos to outdo teg with.
-
Man have I never mentioned before that I make Lego shit basically all the time?
Because I should mention that
Losing nearly my entire Lego collection was one of only two things I regret about moving (the other being losing my Beetle Adventure Racing cartridge).

That's some pretty cool stuff.
-
Ignoring what I'm hoping are Knex pieces I'm short at least three of those pieces as my set stopped growing before the aughts.
-
No Knex or Mega Blox in there! My collection ranged from late-eighties hand-me-down parts to a handful of post-2005 sets. I had a lot of Bionicle and Throwbots stuff too.
My current collection is a single bucket I salvaged that mostly contains new parts and a few sets I've bought since I moved. Lego's pretty expensive, so I can't get many sets outside of fairly small ones.

teg, I recommend that you shrink your images with
[/img]
and make them clickable thumbnail links to the full size image. Presentation is everything.
-
Fuck that, Guild. It looks great like it is.
-
Haha! Teg, that is brilliant.

Oh also that Metroid picture is basically more popular than everything else I've ever put on DA combined.
:whoops:
-
That pretty much happened to a friend of mine with a Harley Quinn picture she drew.
-
The pic of mine that happened with was one I HATED (it was a picture of Britannia a friend asked for a long time ago. I did a terrible job and most of it was just copied anyway).

YOU JELLY?
-
Damn it, teg.
I gotta get in on this.
-
Next I think I'll be
stealing taking inspiration from the Jet Set Radio controller I posted in the vidjagame images thread.
I'll probably have to disassemble the controller, though. That could be problematic.
-
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH JELLY!
-
Honk honk!
So I apparently haven't posted on the Bronto in... a while, but I have ben making infrequent posts on WRATH. Remember how this thread promised Blackjack and hookers? Well I'm delivering on one of those two things. Go check it out!
DO IT NOW
-
but it's scary
-
Man, now that the link to wrath in the news items at the top is gone, I don't have the link and usually even forget it exists.
Even when it was there, I only checked it like once a month - because that's how often there was a new post.
-
It's... er. Still there, Mongrel.
-
Oh man, it's super tiny now.
EDIT: Welp, the bit about one post per month was correct anyway.
