So here's how this is gonna work. In order to get through the early parts of this poll quickly, I'm going to be running, like I said, 4 at a time, and vote for 2. However, I'll also be running two threads at a time, A and B (http://brontoforum.us/index.php?topic=6518.msg239766#msg239766).
That way, we'll be able to get into the Ro32 in only 7 days (or less, if huge leads develop)
One thing I ask: If you do vote, please vote for TWO, not just one. If you really can't decide between the other three or simply don't care, roll a die.
Anyway, our first match for Thread A (determined by die roll) is:

Came between Tetris and Metroid for me; Metroid won it 'cause NES Tetris was single player only.

The official NES version of Tetris didn't really do much besides "be Tetris". It was too early to even have Korobeiniki in it.
Not to say "be Tetris" isn't enough, but it's not really a standout example of what the console was good for.

Blades of Steel was actually pretty great! Doesn't compete with Lifeforce or Crystalis though.

Bionic Commando leads, but a tie between DW4 and MM3 forces me to do my first tiebreaker of the tourney. In the end, though I love both games almost equally, I decide to go with DW4 because it's the only DW still in the running.

We have a tie for second place between SMB2 and Punch Out, but unlike the other thread this is an easy tiebreaker for me. While I love SMB2, Punch Out gets the nod, making it advance with the original Mario.

Like I said in #ff, personally for me SMB3 and MM2 are extremely, hair trigger close. The deciding factor is that I tend to play Mega Man 2 at least once a year, whereas I don't feel compelled to play SMB3 quite so often.
