Title: Self-Promotion
Post by: Zaratustra on February 12, 2008, 09:58:18 PM
Did any of you people write this? (http://www.gamersquarter.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=66311&sid=0272ad6c737d4cdcac7d6aeb74fdda69#66311) I really should put Fugue back up, as soon as I have it in a version that is not shameful. NEVERMIND FOUND OUT WHO IT WAS

This thread shall remain for anyone to post their minor projects that desire attention.

Eh, it works well enough as harmless inoffensive copy and keyword rich enough for google to grab on to.

I can get you a good deal on Rhino Lining, too.

Oh, hey.  Would you look at that.

Since I've been promoting Zara's stuff over there for a while, it's only fair that I promote something from one of my friends at the Gamer's Quarter.  Dessgeega (http://"http://www.dessgeega.com/") just completed her latest game today, Mighty Jill Off (http://mightyjilloff.dessgeega.com/).  It's a vertically-designed platformer.  I'm having a hard time beating it.

I've been scoring in the 15-minute range.  Dessgeega herself scored around 9 minutes, apparently.  I've seen one guy post a screenshot at 8:58, but kind of wonder whether Photoshop was behind that.

how the shits do you turn a .bin into something for knytt stories to use
Title: Re: Self-Promotion
Post by: Royal☭ on March 19, 2008, 01:28:38 PM
You don't have to.

You simply run Knytt Stories, click on "Load Level" then drag the .bin file into the game.

Alphabox is back in Flash. (http://zarat.us/tra/online-games/alphabox.html) Now it even has a level editor and stuff.

Remember you need to make a login at my site (http://zarat.us/tra/) to be able to submit scores and levels.

People defended it to the death, though, citing the genius of Tim Schafer, creator of the stylistically perfect Psychonauts, and how he had done the game industry no wrongs up to that point -- and he really hadn't, but this came with an unintended side-effect. Schafer has unwittingly created for himself a cult of personality, mostly through amazing blog posts and wonderful adventure games;

"The video game ad had the playground to itself for a long time once the Nintendo Entertainment System became the 800-pound gorilla in the room, an existence itself owed to the savvy marketing that allowed it to sneak onto shelves that had been burned by the previous generation of video games."

Can you even count what came before the NES as a "generation"?
Title: Re: Self-Promotion
Post by: Brentai on May 18, 2011, 08:39:23 PM
There were a couple in fact, but in most people's minds it just went Planck Era->Atari 2600->NES->SNES->N64->GameCube->GameCube with a stupid controller.

Good GOD y'all, if you pick up any volume of the print version (http://www.blurb.com/user/store/gamespite) of Gamespite Journal, make it GJ11 in color.  The layouts in these things are getting absolutely gorgeous.  Unfortunately, the price of print-on-demand is still pretty outrageous, but they run promo codes fairly often to help take a little of the sting off of them.

Are you guys being serious?

The Atari 2600, just one iteration of one console during that generation sold 30 million units over a period of about 5 years. For perspective: the NES, Famicom and all iterations of both combined over a ten year period managed 60 million units. The Atari was huge. Home videogaming was huge. Arcade videogaming was huge! Everyone was playing videogames!

The Atari didn't die out because hobbyists lost interest, the Atari died out because a videogame that was taking in tens of millions of dollars in quarters every month got ported to the Atari and sucked. Consumers lost faith in the product.

Gamespite Journal 12 is now a thing that you can buy (http://www.telebunny.net/toastyblog/sega-vol-1/).

I've got an article on Game Gear Sonic in here that is pretty ok, and Niku has like 4 times that many articles about cooler stuff. B&W paperback is $14, and coupon code WONDERFUL saves you $15. Or, as always, you can just sit back and read them if/when they make it onto the website. I'll still love you.
