Assorted Creations / It's RPGMaker Time
« on: December 28, 2013, 01:49:18 PM »
I want to make an RPG. I've been wanting to make an RPG. If you want to help, here's a link to RPG Maker VX Ace on Steam, which is 35 dollars until January 2nd, and a link to RPG Maker VX Ace Lite, which is free. I intend to monetize this game. Here's my proposal:

Story in Three Acts
Act 1: Introduction
Act 2: Adventure in Three Arcs
Act 3: The Endgame and Endgame Sidequests

Eight Heroes
The Main Character
2 Allies who join in the Introduction
4 Allies who join over the course of the Adventure in Three Arcs
1 Optional Ally

Using these parameters, here's how the game should play out:

Act 1 -
1-2 Towns
2-3 Dungeons
2 Allies Join The Main Character, One of whom is already the MC's friend or acquaintance, the Other a new ally

Act 2, Arc 1 -
1-2 Towns
2 Dungeons
2 Allies Join

Act 2, Arc 2 -
1-2 Towns
2 Dungeons
2 Allies Join

Act 2, Arc 3 -
1-2 Towns
2 Dungeons

Act 3 -
6-8 Optional Dungeons/Sidequests, One for Each Character possibly excluding the Main Character and the Optional Character
2 Final Dungeons

This is the framework, the formula by which the game will be built around. Beyond this, I'm open to ideas. If you want to join me in crafting this game, please PM me, but also consider buying RPG Maker. If you can't afford to throw away money on a pipe dream, use the Lite version.

Online Hookers / Atlantica Online
« on: July 03, 2013, 06:24:59 AM »
I've been playing the dicks out of this Free 2 Play game lately, Atlantica Online, a turn-based Korean MMORPG. Low as fuck system requirements, good music, relatively fun gameplay, I've logged in 40 hours so far and haven't spent a single red cent. And tits, it has those. It is a Korean MMORPG, after all. Good fun.

I've got two characters on the Sikyon server, a 42-level Spear User named Psalyta, and a level 18 Battle Mage named Thespora.

This isn't going to be like other LPs you may find. For starters, there's no video or pictures. If you want to see videos or pictures of DoA, honestly they're not really hard to find. I might throw up a picture or two of my Achievements to let you know I'm making some progress.

No, this is an experiment. An experiment on myself, to determine the effects of of a completion run (or as close as humanly possible) of Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 on the human mind. To wit, just as Artist Bryan Lewis Saunders created self-portraits of himself while on various types of drugs, I too will be creating a self-portrait of myself after every successful completion of a "Vacation" (14 In-Game Days) in DOA:X2.

Vacation 1: Christie Part 1

Achievements Unlocked: 0

As you can see I've already completed my first Vacation. It does not seem as if I am suffering any negative side-effects yet. Crap art aside. And, as the title suggests, for my first character I've chosen Christie.

More to follow.

Real Life / First World Problems

My computer monitor is starting to grow dim and flicker in brightness. It... it's dying. God damn it. Just God damn it.

I was reading this article the other day that described the Fallout series as bleak -- and true, it's pretty seriously fucked all over. But as far as shitholes go, it's not really all that bad. Despite all of its lawlessness and corruption, it's pretty clear that inevitably the social contract is slowly taking hold and civility will triumph over chaos. And, you know, if I had to live in a fictional hellhole, the Fallout world wouldn't be that bad. Well, assuming Caesar doesn't beat the NCR.

Alright, a few minutes ago a man leapt from Space and broke the sound barrier by falling... and CNN completely ruined that for me. Several minutes of tense buildup transpired as "Fearless" Felix Baumgartner checked his equipment, and then CNN didn't even air the live footage of the man jumping out of his balloon capsule until well after he landed on the ground. And when they did finally show it, they had pundits talking over it. One of the most profound and awesome events in recent history, and CNN shat all over it with its handling of it.

I mean, I can understand taking some precautions since you don't want to air a man being horribly killed on national television. Nevertheless, CNN, shut the fuck up for a little bit and let your audience bask in the sheer magnificence of the human achievement. You don't need to tell us what we're already seeing.

So Machinima brought back Sifl & Olly. I'm okay with this.

Easy as Pie Promo - The Return of Sifl & Olly!

Very okay with this, indeed.

I have come to realize something about women. And this is reality for all women, regardless of age, race, creed or sexuality: every single woman alive... loves a well-timed dick joke.

Media / THE AVENGERVERSE (probably going to be spoilers)
« on: May 07, 2012, 04:22:07 AM »
So yeah let's have a thread about the Avengers movie universe: Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and of course The Avengers. Speaking of which, I saw The Avengers yesterday. It was fun. Like, textbook definition fun. You open a dictionary up and where it says "Fun" there's a picture of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. high fiving.

For now, a few thoughts:

-I hear Downey did a lot of improvising. I wonder how much of a nerd he actually is because at one point he references Life Model Decoys.

-The Hulk was awesome. Ruffulo was awesome.

-Joss Whedon's foot fetish is alive and well. Gwyneth Paltrow's one speaking scene is spent entirely barefoot.

-
Thanos' outer space god dimension is totally Jack Kirby. Just look at it.
EDIT: alright, inconsequential spoiler redacted.

DOUBLE EDIT: further edited so now it's a HUGE FUCKING SPOILER.

Assorted Creations / Disposable Ninja's Big Dumb Thing Thread
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:15:23 PM »
In this thread I'll be posting things from this bigger thing I've been planning out for... years, really. I'm going to keep posting these things until I get out of the planning stage and actually start making it.

Here's a map I've been, and am still, developing:

You'll notice that many of those countries have the names of Greek Gods on them. That's because each of those countries reflect the qualities of those gods through their cultures and identities. They're not part of the world, though; that's all flavor text to set the tone.

This is a thread for talking about recipes that you yourself came up with. I'll start. Quick note, I don't use measurements, and instead just eye everything, usually.

Country Sausage Stuffed French Toast

-A few inches of Country Sausage
-Black Pepper
-2 Slices of Bread
-2 Eggs
-Ground Cinnamon
-Ground Ginger
-Vanilla Extract

-Cut the Sausage up into tiny pieces
-Cook the Sausage in a pan with Sugar, Onions, Pepper and Milk
-Sandwich the Cooked Sausage, Onions and Resulting Sauce between two slices of bread
-Mix together eggs, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla extract, sugar and milk in a bowl
-Dunk Sausage Sandwich in egg batter
-Make French Toast Sandwich

EDIT: forgot the onions

Online Hookers / Xbox Live
« on: May 15, 2011, 07:25:06 AM »
I have a shiny new Xbox Live Gold Membership and two games that I can play other people with: one is Portal 2, which lets you hug other people over the internet. The other is Mortal Kombat, which lets you do this to other people over the internet:

MK9 Stryker Fatality 1

I'm actually more interested in the Portal 2 magical robot hug adventure.

Anyway, my handle is Disponi.

I'm going to make a video game. I'm going to be make it in Construct. It's going to be a Final Fantasy-esque adventure in a High Fantasy Cyberpunk world loosely based on Greek Mythology, where magic fuels technology and only technology can harness the power of magic.

This is what I have so far. EDIT: Dead link.

I have a very, very long way to go.

I watched Despicable Me yesterday. Decent enough movie, whatever you've heard about it is probably true. Nevertheless, they ended it in the most disgusting, most unimaginative way imaginable: Wacky CG Cartoon Character Dance Party!™ It's a way to show that everybody has overcome those mountains that weren't high enough while also showing off how focus tested-approved suave-yet-comical everybody is. And the Cabbage Patch Dance will never, ever get old.

LP Hell / Let's Play Fallout of the North Star

: My name is Kenshiro, although some call me 'Ken' for short. I am on a quest for revenge. A man I once considered my friend betrayed me and left me for dead, abducting my fiancée in the process. I have been wandering the wastelands in search of them for some time now.

During my journey, I collapsed from dehydration. The people of this underground complex, this "Vault", they took me in, they nursed me back to health. But now, they are the ones in trouble, for their water filtration system -- water chips, they call them -- ceased functioning. They need another one, from another vault. Now, it is my turn to help them. I will travel to this other vault, and I will find this Water Chip for them.

: As you can see, I am quite capable of accomplishing this task. In addition to having nigh-godlike strength and speed, I am dexterous, stout, and fairly intelligent. I am not, however, what you might call a 'people person'. Nor am I (if you could not tell by the fact that my story began with me being nearly killed twice) not the luckiest person in the world.

However, I would argue that I do not necessarily need luck...

: ... For I know the ultimate assassination technique: Hokuto Shinken, the Fist of the North Star.

: I strike at my enemy's 708 channeling points --

: Which allow me to control their bodies however I wish. Usually, they explode. Violently.

: All of these rats?

: They're already dead.

I mean, you can't really see it that well because I'm in the middle of a dark cave, but I assure you they're all quite exploded.

: Worry not, vaultdwellers. I will find your waterchip.

And just you wait, Shin. I will have my revenge.

Think long and hard. Heh.

"Long and hard".

Get it?

So I've had my wacom tablet for a couple of days, so I figure it was high-time I draw my own completely terrible stick figure comic and then post it on the web.

Based on a true story.

So I just remembered that Nier came out, and of course that reminded me about the chick with a penis, and that got me thinking about characters who might check the third box when asked for their gender. So: who's the best notgirl in video games?
