Truly the most terrifying.

I am predictably Tefari, and its been a ton of fun rolling around in the party van with Smiler, patito, Joxam, and Mali so far. Its also the first game I've encountered on my machine that's given it pause on medium settings. I could probably tweak some stuff to make it look better without sacrificing more than a couple FPS but in any heavy combat situation I already start to drop frames so I'm just running on low everything aside from maxed render quality, which seems to define how sharp everything is...not like AA sharp, more like how much vasoline smeared on your monitor effect you get sharp. I turned it down to 50 just to test it and it looked like I took my glasses off.

At the risk of hijacking the thread, what are the downsides to being an EMT? What kind of horror stories and shit-that-leads-to-drug-addiction does that job entail aside from dealing with large amounts of people in various states of not-doing-so-well? Not to downplay the effects on the psyche that dealing with such a morbid job entails mind you. Someone mentioned it upthread and that kind of feels like something I'd be interested in doing from the same wanting to make a difference angle as BB here. So please, shred the idea if you think its terrible but I'd love to hear about it good and bad.

I guess it comes down to whether or not you're really concerned with people fudging rolls. I like open rolls online not because I don't trust people but because it keeps everything out in the open so there's not even the chance of things looking sketchy.

I also just realized I've never made a D20 character before, shit. *readreadread*

I'd like to say "the good news is the Democrats won't make that mistake a second time", buuuuut my local Democratic Party just failed to run a candidate for County Attorney for a second consecutive fucking election, and I'm not exactly filled with hope that Georgia's Dems have their shit together any more than ours.

Don't worry, we didn't. On my ballot out of...7 or 8 positions there were precisely two republicans not running unopposed, not counting the presidential election.

Man, I played Blood Money like a month ago as my first Hitman game and its really a massive bummer that Absolution is sounding like its just savagely bad cause I was really hyped to play something new in that same vein. I guess I'll just go back and play the older ones instead? =\

OTOH several of the comments on the article make it sound like the guy harshing on it might be out for blood or something. I dunno... I'll probably end up checking it out somehow, since I have a hard time believing they'd fuck it up so badly (don't even start, don't even).

Thaddeus Boyd's Panel of Death / Re: Legalize It!
« on: November 07, 2012, 03:14:23 PM »
I've said it before, but at this point almost nobody seems to want marijuana illegal anymore except the tobacco and alcohol industries.
Alcohol maybe but I imagine that the tobacco industry has plans set aside for if/when pot is legalized so they can swoop in and make (another) mint. They already have the infrastructure, it wouldn't be too hard to alter the contents of what goes into that white paper tube and mass produce it.

Anyways yey this is an awesome step towards a sane drug policy in the US.

Holy shit three months? That's crazy! :D The panic management aspect is fine for me but I'm fine with it being made slightly easier in exchange for more interesting combat scenarios that don't just feel like the deck is stacked against you in such a way that its just boring to deal with the repercussions.

The cover shields will be red if they're not gonna work for protecting you from whatever can hit you at the angles the cover provides. Aside from that walls only add to your dodge percent, when shots go directly through the walls its just a visual issue, its not like UFO Defense where bullets were objects in the world that could be stopped.

I really think the worst part of Classic is the jacked up alien crit rate. I mean seriously, it feels like they crit >50% of the time and its garbage. Can someone link a good mod that cuts off that bullshit while keeping the heightened AI? Nevermind I'm doing my own research on the XCOM Nexus...there's some good stuff in here. I might have to start this fucking game over again on Classic Ironman just to feel like I got the right experience. Someone linked the Warspace mod in IRC earlier and that looks awesome, I wonder if you can combine a stat fixer with that and have it work right.

This seems good and what the fuck worthy, pardon if it was brought up elsewhere. 14 year old girl shot for promoting women's education in Pakistan. The kid is a fucking champion and I hope she survives...trying to assassinate a 14 year old, keep it ~classy~ guys.

<myew> He lets you spend an expertise die to let the doctor know if you go on in the car, the subterfuge won't last. But at a group of aliens called the top because squizzle lives there.
