I don't get raped at all. If a product is artificially marked up here I buy it from an american place online now and gladly pay the shipping. If all Canadians who could do this did so. The problem would go away very quickly.

I really like how that feminist site article about it has the following sarcastic line in it.

Because what could be more intoxicating than the approval of a room full of tech dudes?

Of course, I don't know why such irony coming from the smaller brain of a woman surprises me.

How is it ambiguous in any way? Because I made a "Hurt me more" joke? I still basically just say "He has to die to win. Him winning doesn't end the game." I don't know how to make it any less ambiguous than that.

Metalgear: Solid Wolf

US Government (Wolves):
Can only perform night kills as long as Snake or Raiden are alive. They win the game if they out number the innocents and lose if Snake and Raiden are killed

Snake - Must effectively be killed twice by either a night kill or a lynch vote to actually be killed. The first time he is killed or lynched he is only discovered and the second time he is killed.

Raiden - Must effectively be killed twice by either a night kill or a lynch vote to actually be killed. The first time he is killed or lynched he is only stripped naked and the second time he is killed.

Meryl Silverburgh - Has a hot ass and is the Devil. Does not start out as known to the wolves since they couldn't find her codec frequency on the CD case.

Nastasha Romanenko - A Nuclear Weapons expert, can lock down one characters abilities for a night due to them being in the room with all the warheads.

Foxhound (innocents):

Liquid Snake - As the loving brother of all the genome soldiers, he can protect anyone from the lynch and has a posh British accent.

Revolver Ocelot - A spagetti western gun-slinger whose prefered weapon is the colt single-action army, Ocelot counts as an innocent. However, if either team wins the game and he has not been killed, then both teams actually lose and Ocelot wins when it is revealed that he was simply manipulating everyone from the start.

Decoy Octopus - A master of disguise, he never scans as the same role twice and never as himself. The player will not know that they are decoy octopus and will instead be told that they are an other random role.

Sniper Wolf - Can provide one player with sniper cover every round thus protecting them from night kills. If she is attacked she shoots the fuck out of Meryl, causing the player to backtrack to that room with the pits to get the sniper rifle. She then loses her power since she has to sit there pinning down Meryl.

Psycho Mantis - There's no player two slot to save you now! He is the Seer.

Vulcan Raven - Stalks the night with a vulcan cannon he salvaged from a downed F-16 Falcon. Some might call him a vigilante.

Grey Wolf - He counts as an innocent but yerns for death, only wins if he dies and hopefully a painfull death at that. His personal victory only matters to him and does not end the game.

Genome Soldier - The default powerless innocent.

Please feel free to point out obvious flaws.

As much as I don't want to hop on Geo's LOOK HOW SARCASTIC I CAN BE side...

Why is everyone such a penis vagina penis about this sort of thing. Does laughing cause you horrible, icky pain?

I stopped playing when the horrible screeching noise happened and I didn't have a volume control in game.

Poor Ocksi, born in a land where neither speakers nor operating systems have their own volume controls. How different your world must be from mine.   Yet its exoticness only acts to entice me further to visit its shores one day, to surround myself with it's culture shock inducing beauty.

ROM CHECK FAIL is pretty fun.

It's not real complex or anything, but it's pretty well implemented.

Did you see the coverage of Obama on the latest debate? He was stuttering like a fool, Colbert even highlighted it. The Presidency requires leadership and poise.

As someone who has a speech impediment and therefore probably stutters a lot more than Obama,  :fuckoff:

Yo, JOE! Cast Photos Leaked.

Normally, I'd be the first jerkoffosaurus to approve of a commando unit slinking into tight fitting black rubber, but... JOE wasn't much with the Technicolor Dreamcoat, and now turns out to be even more forgettable once everyone is fashioned out to be a Crysis bot.

Love the Battle Scarred Action(!) on their 'Duke'. so hawdc0r3

Good lady 4chan has been complaining about Storm Shadow, saying that he doesn't look like the original character at all. Personally, I think that he is the coolest looking one by far though, so they can all get fucked.

Snake Eyes looks laughably bad but what's really got me expecting the movie to be complete dog shit is the baroness' costume. No fucking glasses, no cobra symbol on her chest, no cobra symbols period, a glammed out belt buckle, and NO FUCKING GLASSES? Seriously? It's the sort of costume that screams "I probably won't even sound eastern-european when I talk because the actress we hired completely on looks couldn't be arsed."

Of course, the 4channers are claiming that this movie was basically made by hasbro to sell a new line of toys that they already designed the look of before any costumes were made or actors hired, but I digress. This will not be anywhere as cool as Transformers was, which is a shame.

Storm Shadow does look cool though, and he was always my favourite character other than Sgt. Slaughter, Baroness, Destro, and Snake Eyes.

So, why is Fox news still allowed to exist? Is it just a money thing or what? I mean, their brand of completely uninvestigated reporting is really starting to piss me off because in cases where I haven't actually researched what they are reporting on myself it forces me to have to withold judment on the retardedness of their stories and I really hate having to do that.

I was thinking today that for MMORPGs to ever appeal to me ever again, they have to not be WoW, RO, GuildWars, or Starwars Galaxies.

I do not what to play an other MMORPG where you gain levels and make you character more powerful solely by participating in combat.

Some newer MMOs coming out are trying to at least make combat different than the same damn, click icons to use skills while your character auto attacks system that every MMORPG since Everquest still seems to use. Age of Conan for instance, although I cannot confirm this first hand, seems to actually be proposing a new combat system to us. But I say, too little too late.

I thought today of a game like the MMO + RTS that people had been discussing for the last little while in this thread but where the uber players who were made the commanders of the RTS component did not have to be players who had gotten to that level through fighting in combat. A character could perhaps have built a guild around him by creating a successful trading company. At the beginning of the game he had to defend himself a few times with weapons or with magic because the world he lives in is a dangerous place. But once the Bartz Company had grown to the point where he had enough guards with him whenever traveling and so forth, there was rarely need for him to have to defend himself with his own abilities.

An other player was a great scholar or inventor.

An other player was a great politician and thrived in that area of the game.

I think something along these lines would get my excited about the genre again.

Then Zara MSNed me and we joked about why nintendo hasn't cashed in on the idea of an RTS or Strat/RPG where you were Bowser and you commanded the koopa troop to victory with log tanks and airships and the whole nine yards. When the going got tough and the evil new badguys that you were facing seemed to be getting the upper hand on you, Mario and Luigi would join your army as super units to sway the tide back in your favour. Of course, Bowser would be to proud to accept help from those meddling plumbers, so they would have to disguise themselves as Hammer Bros to successfully join the Koopa Troop.

It would be a good excuse to bring Jinx back into the continuity of the series as a mentor and troop trainer too.

It seems sort of easy for Bowser to win if he nabbs Peach, But then, I guess it's hard for him to find her.

Do any of you know of a japanese site that would have scans of old manga or where I could buy really old manga from?

I'm asking because I am looking to get the complete collection of Kaoru Shintani's Area 88 series.

I currently have up to issue forty-something of the viz/eclipse English translated versions that I bought off of ebay a while back but I would like to get the entire series. I think that after the comics I have, Viz or whoever started putting Area 88 into a combined book with some other mangas for a while, but I don't think they did that for very long and probably didn't bother translating the whole series like this. searching on the web in english reveals only sites that sell or have have scans of the comics that I already have. The Japanese Internets are strange and too Japanese for me to actually investigate.

Even if all I could get are the untranslated japanese versions of the rest of the series, I'd be happy. I just wanna see if they ever take out the land carrier  :sadpanda:

- Random shit
- Random shit plus INTERNET
- fuckin'
- news
- "hey let's do a thing"
- talk about the boards

is what you're saying, basically?  Really I think the distinction between the first two is where most confusion is gonna show up.

Well, I don't think those really capture it no. If I were to write a simplified version of what I already did then it would go.

-Hey, have you seen this cool thing?
-Hey, wanna play a game?
-Hey, wanna fuck/fap?
-Hey, did you hear about this they've done now?
-Hey, wanna see this thing I made?
-Hey, what happened to the forums?

I'm not opposed to renaming the individual forums to something more clear.
I find a lot of the current criticism on this aspect to be misplaced. I actually think that what we currently have is pretty much perfect, to be honest. I think that what our forums need are the following sections:

  • discussion of upcoming movies, comic, games, popculture, etc
  • discussion of online games that we are currently playing and want to play together as well as board based games such as werewolf, RPs, Diplomacy, etc. This could perhaps use a separation between the former and the latter but they should have the same base board
  • porn and relationship discussion
  • political, world events discussion, and career discussion
  • Our current projects and stuff we want to show off or ask for help on
  • Discussion of the forums themselves and other related websites

Now, I look at the forums we currently have and what do I see? Pretty much this exact list of sub forums. Maybe others have other forums they want or something like wrath to be added, but personally, I feel that all the bases are covered and to the appropriate degree. If some people think that the names are not intuitive enough, I can see reason for that complaint, but really, the old boards had the same problem with almost exactly the same forums (Lust and Jerking off are obvious where as envy and putting off are less so).

So, I wouldn't be personally against some name changes but really, I think if people just keep my above rubric in mind and go with it for a bit, once people make enough major posts in each of those categories, I think it'll become pretty clear in people's heads.
