1. Sony's free games were actually decent modern games, not a bunch of emulated rerereleases that are available to anyone with a lack of ethics and minor cmputer savvy.
1. Sony's free games were games I could have bought for thirty to sixty nonrefundable dollars off a shelf the previous week, not a bunch of games that ordinarily can't be legally played on current-generation hardware and are no longer sold in stores.

(referring to the GBA titles specifically)

It was an Aardman movie that Dreamworks kept changing until it was a Dreamworks movie, which is why they don't work with Dreamworks anymore.
It was originally supposed to be about pirates, of all things.

On the other hand maybe they're be massive trolls and one of the GBA games will be
Mother 3
Your hopeless dreams are funny to me.
:joke:

In all seriousness though, since they wouldn't have to worry about distribution costs, maybe they will look into it. I don't think anybody expected Sin and Punishment to be released in America ever and look what happened there.

So, can someone explain to me how not releasing these games to the general public is going to get them more money? I mean, it won't be coming from me, because I'm getting them for free. Does Nintendo expect all of their hardware to sell without any software to go on it? This isn't even like them refusing to bring whatever japanese games over, because that would actually take work. Here, the work is already done, and Nintendo is just refusing to sell games.
Remember when Nintendo said they would never reprint Super Mario All-Stars?

My guess is that they're just saying they have no plans to make them available to the general public so that the super stupid-hardcore people buy a 3DS while it's still $250; and then six months later they can open the GBA Virtual Console with those titles due to fan demand.

They said they have no plans to release them to the general public. That doesn't necessarily mean they won't.

Also, I actually like that they're giving me all this stuff for being an early adopter. It's a surprisingly nice move for the cruel gaming world of 2011.

Sony: yeah, sorry some dude has your credit card. And that we kinda took a while to tell you. Look, take these two-to-four free games and we'll call it even.
Nintendo: yeah, sorry for jumping the gun on the 3DS. Look, take these twenty free games and we'll call it even.

The last time Aardman made a CG feature they themselves were unsatisfied with the result.

Also it had elves parodying the military or something and eeeeeenh

Oh and Cowboys and Aliens was there too.

That actually looked kind of neat.

At least Harrison Ford seems fairly lucid in the trailer.

The twist is that it's the Troy McLure musical version.

So I went to see Harold Potter and the Significant Plot Device Part The Second tonight. Trailers included:

-Arthur Christmas: I have no idea what this crappy movie is, but it was the best trailer by sheer virtue of not being a sequel.
-Spy Kids 4D: Robert Rodriguez continues to pander to his kids, who must be like nineteen by now. When I heard my coworkers talking about "Aromascope" I thought it was a joke. I was sadly mistaken.
-Happy Feet Two:

I've been spend so much time being frustrated by gameplay that I'm all raged out by the time a cutscene shows up, but I think I get what they mean.

On the other hand, I just played a segment where she attacks a member of her squad in order to protect a civilian, which was unexpectedly in-character.

Calling it now: The tweest will be the movie ending in some sort of Independence Day battle bonanza, with the humans seemingly winning. Our plucky heroes get a happy ending etc etc, until we get a shot (possibly after the credits) of a single intelligent chimp hiding somewhere, the military having missed him. Bonus points if he's in a zoo or jungle trying to make other monkeys smarter. Double bonus points if it's a baby monkey that's actually the child of one of the intelligent ones (and implied to have inherited the trait), but born from a regular mother ape.

REPLY 100 (wheeee)

So I finally bought this game and I'm playing through it.

It is pretty frustratingly difficult for all the wrong reasons.

Reason one being pixel hunts and reason two being Gigafraugs.

So speaking of poverty:

Remember how I got laid off early last month? Guess what. I still haven't gotten any employment insurance. Blockbuster has been massively incompetent with their layoffs, doing things like not sending me my Record Of Employment until more than a month after being laid off, sending it to the wrong address, and putting the wrong date on it. One of my coworkers lost his house and is likely to lose his car because he can't make payments on it.
Staples, on the other hand, has just been opaque. I had to double or triple check with Service Canada to make sure that what I needed from them was a record of employment before they actually decided to request me one.

The good news is I might actually get the severance pay I was cheated out of through the wage earner protection program! The bad news is it looks like I require a confirmation number that I would have gotten when I filled out the form. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I put it or what it looks like. Also it will probably severely fuck with my EI if I get $1700 in my bank account at once.

I should go submit some more resumes. :T

Getting the Thermal visor in Metroid Prime.

For a brief moment, it becomes the scariest damn thing in the game.

One of my favourite things about Nier is that every dungeon, rather than being themed around things like "FIRE TEMPLE" and "WATER TEMPLE" is instead themed around a specific type of game. Sometimes it's a shmup, sometimes it's a text adventure, sometimes it's Diablo... But my favourite by far is when it turns into Resident Evil. With the fixed camera and everything.

Threed and Happy Happy Town in Earthbound.

Osohe Castle in Mother 3.

Forever Forest, Boo's Mansion, and Gusty Gulch in Paper Mario.

Twilight Town and the Excess Express in Paper Mario 2.

I... I have a type.

There are no words.

I would immediately assume this was a joke if Capcom didn't have this new face of batshit insanity.

Looks like all the repartee with Capcom Europe ended a while back, the last response leading to this post before the guy tweeting was presumably fired.
Nope. Still going.

This is far more entertaining than MML3 would have been.

I like to imagine that this guy is locked in a room with a laptop, with the rest of Capcom Europe banging on the door and screaming at him to stop.
