World's Most Scientific Institute / Re: Do you have a tattoo?
« on: May 07, 2010, 04:57:45 PM »
Tattoos generally don't look nearly as good as they should. Instead of solid colours they usually have that weird pinkish-grey tinge to them. They're great in theory, but rarely live up to it. I'm also with whatshisface in that just one looks really out of place. Sleeves are where it's at.
Piercings, however, are a huge turn-on for me, so I'd like to get one or two done eventually.
Unfortunately, I am terrified of pain and thus will probably never do either.

Comedy response: "BATMAN FOREVER". Backwards. On my forehead.

I notice we don't have B^U or Drowtales in the list :whoops:
Or that one about cats and video games. :nyoro~n:

Threads like this make me realize just how few webcomics I read.

Unfortunately I didn't notice they had Kanye West shades until after I added the text.

nooooooooooooooo

you're one of those guysss

For some reason I've come to put folks who use Guilty Gear sprites and folks who wear dark dragon overshirts into the same general category.
Hey man, I've never even played Guilty Gear. I just like Bridget.

Other suggestions are welcome since I just grabbed this one for the sake of having an avatar anyway.

Hows about this or this for the av

It would be totally sweet.
Only if I can apply BlingeeTM for ironic purposes.

oh noooooo

Seriously, for all the flak it gets, the 2003 series was at least pretty. This just doesn't cut it for me. It could be that I have no nostalgia for the show, or that I've read all of the manga and know how severe all of the watering down is, or it could be that the North American release put all of the episodes out of order for no reason thus making the best plotlines largely incomprehensible. Yeah maybe that's it.

Real Life / Re: Your Job: The Movie
« on: April 29, 2010, 03:19:23 PM »
I am beginning to resent the movie store I work for. Avatar was just released, as many of you probably know. I've been promoting the heck out of presales for the last month because if I don't, I basically don't get to eat. But it turns out that not only is the product itself a total rip-off (just the movie. No special features), it is priced ten dollars more at our store than anywhere else in town -a mark-up that I won't see one penny of.
I had been at least hoping we would drop the price in the system to the usual release day pricing (which is usually okay) when it came out. The price in the system was the release day pricing. Eeeeeeeesh.
This puts me in an awkward spot (at least in my head). The two I would consider most qualified based off what I've seen so far are guys, and I feel like giving them both the position may make the women in training assume I chose them based off that, and since everyone seemed to want as many hours as they could get, I don't even have the "well, he was available more" cushion to fall back on.
Just so you don't feel so bad about this if it's still relevant: Not promoting them because you didn't have them in mind for the position isn't sexist. Promoting them to make the gender split more favourable even though you didn't have them in mind would be.

High-Context Discourse / Re: Bullshit
« on: April 29, 2010, 10:50:45 AM »
Even though this thread seems to largely be about lobstertits right now I thought I'd contribute to the original discussion of sexy word games.

At the video store I work at, there is an unspoken game where employees try to determine which children's movie titles would make the best porn titles. The Dora The Explorer ones are the best because they're all either disturbingly appropriate (like "Cowgirl Dora" or "City Of Lost Toys") or delightfully inappropriate (like "Puppy Power").

There is another unspoken game that I started where we determine what title-mashup would make the best movie.

So while I was in Halifax recently I picked up the eighties Astro Boy boxed set and it is the worst thingTM. For the record, I am a huge Tezuka fan and I love the Astro Boy manga, but this is awful. I hope it's at least like the 2003 series where there are a couple of episodes that make suffering through the rest worth it.

I have remarked before that it's pretty bewildering that Archie comics have made such a drastic shift in political views yet remained incredibly bland and inoffensive throughout. I think it's kind of neat that this is pretty much the only franchise still enjoyed by kids that could get away with adding a gay character without parents getting all up in the creators' collective grill.
I still remember reading a story in an older comic where Jughead went undercover for the school newspaper to infiltrate the punk movement. It was like a Troy MacLure special played straight.
Granted, the publishers themselves are also known for getting increasingly asshattish over the dumbest things. The last thing I remember was the outright ban of all fanfiction.

now the world will never read my epic and interwoven tale in which archie sets up a date with betty and veronica at the same time whoa
