Thad, I see your point with transfer of ownership, but I don't think any publisher is ever going to. They'd tie disc keys to our SSN's if they could.

That doesn't mean we should shut the fuck up about it and accept it.  ESPECIALLY coming from a company that swears they're selling you a game and not a license.

Yeah, EA's not exactly standing at the top of a mountain screaming "WE'RE ALL ABOUT CONSUMER RIGHTS!!!" at the top of their lungs.  These guys are, which makes it much more apparent that they're not.

Earthworm Jim 3D

The fuck?

I've got a copy of the ORIGINAL Earthworm Jim that doesn't work under XP.

EWJ 1&2: The Whole Can of Worms is in fact available on GoG now.  My question is, is the first game the Special Edition version?  I've had trouble finding info on that, with vague signs pointing toward "no".  But it seems like it frickenwell SHOULD be since it's 593MB.

GOG and CD Projekt RED: BFFs 4ever, GOG set to announce a deal with a "big publisher".

Squeenix seems like the odd duck in that bunch. Do they have a back catalogue of PC games I'm not aware of?

Square Enix owns Eidos, but yeah, they still don't have the PC cachet of the other groups on the list.

EA seems like the likeliest bet to me since GOG's already got the BioWare titles that were published through Atari.

I'd hazard to guess that Lucas Arts has the most oft-requested games of that lot, but that only means that GoG would really really like to have a Lucas Arts deal, not that they ever will.

On the other hand, there are some great goddamn tools for running old Scumm games on modern OS's.  GOG's work would largely already be done for it.

True, and that's a huge part of it, but I wasn't thinking entirely of S.C.U.M.M.

I didn't realize that Wing Commander was EA though.  That's a big.

It's EA.

Related: free Ultima 4.  (And no, you don't have to put in a real E-Mail address.)

Would be nice if GOG cut a deal with the Exult devs for rolling out Ultima 7.

I'm planning on buying a ton of games from that list. I never actually counted how many awesome games Interplay published. If only they could distribute the Star Trek adventure games as well.

Holy shit! Die By The Sword!

I think that game had the funniest introductory trainer of any game I've ever played. The condescending mockery was just so gassy.

On that note, I got Sacrifice through that deal specifically for multiplayer shenanigans down the road. Someone else buy it so my purchase was not in vain.

Septerra Core is on sale for less than $3 today. It's pretty neat! It's like if Fallout and a JRPG had a baby.

Ars: Not only does GOG not do DRM, it doesn't store credit card information -- not even the billing address.

Quote
So what information is kept? According to Longino, their system only keeps account names, passwords, and e-mail addresses. "We keep our users' passwords encrypted more than once and stored securely, but the way we keep their financial information is even more secure than their passwords because we don't have it," he explained to Ars. "You can't steal data that we don't have, after all."

So if someone WERE to crack your GOG account, the most potentially dangerous thing they'd have would be...your password, if it's not unique.  If it IS unique, then the most personally-identifiable stuff they'd get would be knowledge of which games you'd bought.

Okay everything on GoG is half off. Aside from the Interplay games that I already bought, what are all of the good games I need to get?

...guh.  Well, I still haven't played the original Fallout or Gothic 2, so...no, I will exercise self-control and not take advantage of this amazing TV offer.

But...I forget, have you played The Witcher yet?

I own it and I am too lazy to play through the first two chapters for the third time.

Did you get Planescape during the Interplay sale?  If not, you should get Planescape.

Otherwise:  Painkiller, Jagged Alliance 2, Space Rangers 2.
