Well, heck. Toss in Predator, Escape From New York, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and make it a tribute marathon.

If you're feeling masochistic, you could even try Mr. 3000.

...Who was in Predator?  Or are you talking about Stan Winston?

Don't worry, not announcing any new deaths, just more on the old ones:

Hughley gives Mac a tribute in his act.

Oh man, and it seems like just yesterday when we all got to see his mysterious face in that Geico commercial.

It's not quite a person dying, but the guy who wrote it died before it went on stage.

Rent closes its Broadway run.

Thad, what's your opinion?

Not really grist for the obit thread.

It had a good run.  It's sorta seemed to lose its relevance over the years, though possibly erroneously given the current economy and recent studies showing that the AIDS rate in America is a lot higher than we thought.

It's more one of those things that's a fond memory from high school than something I'd have to go see if I had the opportunity (though I DID catch it on Broadway when I went a few years back).

Anyway.  Things like this come and go.  It'll still tour.  Cats is still touring.

I tend to prefer musical comedies to musical dramas, because people singing instead of talking is inherently funny.

I've noticed that when I post here its usually not nationally famous people, just my family. At this rate I'm going to be out of family in the next five years... or dead. My dad's wife (step mom) died this morning. She was sick for a long time.

Well, I guess on the bright side, this time it's NOT a family member you're announcing.

He had a good run.  Pity it had to end with cancer instead of a more peaceful way to go.
