Okay, I'm going to need a summary at the end of this.  I couldn't keep watching after Obama claimed that Palin is "an able politician".

Dude... dude, Barack, you okay?  Did The Party surgically remove your balls, man?  What's up?

Managed to catch just enough to notice that McCain was grinning maniacally and scribbling something in his journal the whole time.  Could it be that this election is going all according to keikaku after all?

Obama really does not do well at this debate thing, does he?

I'd be worried, if debates historically meant a fucking thing to most voters.

You don't attack your opponent when your're not behind. Especially when you're running as the compassionate and level headed option.

He certainly pulled his punches regarding Palin, but quite frankly I think any negative comments would not have benefited him right now.

Hm?  I'd say Palin is an extraordinarily able politician.  She's got a very strong history of getting into office, of playing the game, of exploiting connections for exactly as long as it's not more profitable to cut them loose and then immediately doing so without a shred of loyalty or remorse.

She's a terrible public servant.  She was a terrible mayor, is a terrible governor, and would be an unprecedentedly terrible vice president.  But that's not really about her as a politician.

What's up?

His 'likeable' factor, for one.

Oh yeah, he got creamed.

I think Obama's "more cuddly" polling has a lot more to do with the fact that he wasn't the one grinning evilly and taking notes, like some sort of evil health inspector.  "Oh ho, he didn't wash his mouth out after saying the word 'terrorist'!  That's 2 points off!  3 more points and I'll own this arcade, mwa ha ha ha ha!"

Well it would appear that despite all his talk in support, McCain has failed to win the support of Joe the Plumber.

Uh, not necessarily. Joe, after the debate:

Quote from: CBS
To get a sense of just how central Wurzelbacher was to the debate, consider this: McCain and Obama mentioned Wurzelbacher 26 times during the 90 minute debate. By contrast, Iraq came up six times, and the word "economy" was used 16 times.

...

WURZELBACHER: ... McCain was solid in his performance.

Obama speaks well, but ... talk is talk... We've seen McCain, we know his actions. Even if you disagree with him, at least you know where he stands... Obama... He's said a lot, but none of his experience has backed it up. You know, the only experience I've seen or his actions are raising our taxes, so, you know, I'm middle class. I can't have my taxes raised anymore.

COURIC: Well, he supposedly will raise taxes only on people who make over $250,000 a year. Would you be in that category?

WURZELBACHER: Not right now at presently, but, you know, question, so he's going to do that now for people who make $250,000 a year. When's he going to decide that $100,000 is too much, you know? I mean, you're on a slippery slope here. You vote on somebody who decides that $250,000 and you're rich? And $100,000 and you're rich? I mean, where does it end? You know, that's - people got to ask that question.

If I don't see "Fuck Joe The Plumber" shirts for sale by this time tomorrow, I'll be a :sadpanda:

Joe the plumber doesn't know what's best for him.

This shouldn't be surprising.

One of my favorite bits in the debate: McCain's asked if he would have any problem nominating a pro-choice supreme court judge, and McCain said "No, I wouldn't have any problem nominating such a judge. I would nominate him or her based on the quality of his or her record. A pro-choice record isn't a quality record, though."
