I thought the point was to debate the morality of the tale as presented, not to debate whether it was true at all.

Unless there's some glaring inconsistency we've missed, it seems pointless to argue whether this actually happened.

I was told almost this exact story a couple of weeks ago, except in the version I was told, he let it go all the way to court before pulling out the docs, adding a bit of public humiliation to the tale. A quick google search shows it popping up on at least a couple of other sites, too.

Next time do a little research before you go all  and  , guys.

This story was familiar to me because I heard someone tell it to a Seattle radio show possibly around the same time the Craigslist article is dated.  I don't know what that says about its authenticity, but I'm just throwing it out there.
