The obvious response would be to threaten to actually release the damn things into the wild if PETA doesn't back off immediately, but SeaWorld is a business and PETA is a gaggle of petard-hoisting morons, so that's not going to happen.

I like it.

What, corporations are protected by the Constitution but intelligent mammals aren't?

I mean, yes, obviously the suit itself is a complete waste of everybody's time.  But as far as a performance piece that gets people talking -- which is of course what PETA is best at -- it's a lot more enjoyable than their usual tomfoolery.

How much discussion is there going to be besides "wow those liberal animal-rights activists sure are fucking crazy?"

Goddammit. We're calling them Orcas now? I can't keep up with all of these PC terms anymore. I'm just going to call them Killer Whales and be done with it.

As far as I could tell, the SeaWorld Miami location was basically a labor of love for every trainer involved. Not that this really restricts abuse.

I don't get hunting wolves. At least you can safely eat deer or bison meat.

Wolves are hunted for the same reasons coyotes etc. are hunted: They are a danger to livestock.

Possibly wrong thread, possibly  :slow: but seriously, this is a WTF moment.

PETA even worse than previously thought: they've been killing puppies and kittens and just tossing the bodies in the trash.

EDIT: Confirmed for :slow:

I think that's actually old news? I've heard that statistic thrown around before, but didn't read the linked article so I can't say for sure.

Those are not pictures I particularly want to see.

I remember an older episode of Penn and Teller's Bullshit that discussed PETA and that exact same thing. It's not really new information.

Peta's position on pets are mostly that they're invasive species and 'part of the problem', so they're 100% behind shamelessly murdering them. Despite this coming up constantly, it's not something most of the public seems to know about, probably because PETA uses a huge part of their budget on marketing and lobbying, and any attempts to bring their actions to light usually get buried under mountains of cash.

Pets are uncle toms.

The only thing that really pisses me off about this is the writer that continues to treat them like a real NPO.

So I hear the prerequisites for NPO status are a pretty low bar.
