No, they're just being charged with that.  The charges will never stick, though.  Those statutes are generally for knowingly assaulting an officer engaged in the lawful execution of their duty, and ... yeah, neither element is met here.

I am more wary of a policeman than a normal person. A normal person can be a good person or a bad person. A policeman has the exact same chance. Except they have a gun and a bullshit sense of authority and power.

I will never understand cops who don't get why people mistrust them.

On the other hand, I have met really nice/cool cops who are not "just doing their jobs" but rather attempt to actually help people whenever they can. They view their jobs as a calling to protect the innocent and uphold peace, which is exactly what a cop should be doing.

I still don't like them as a whole, however.

Without making any moral judgements, I'd say it's fair to distrust police officers because they have guns and their job is to find reasons to threaten you with their guns.

The police really are a bother, I mean, quite regularly they see me rollin'. I try to ignore it but I can't help but notice they hatin', possibly patrolin', and why? My guess is they tryin' to catch me ridin' dirty!

More often than not, if you're speaking to a police officer it's likely to be in a negative circumstance.

I'm sure most of them are great guys.  Most of them have also never written me a ticket for being in a city park too late at night.

Nah, I've spoken to lots of officers in casual situations.  Like Friday said, it really just sort of takes all kinds.  You'd find the same ratio of nice-guys-to-fucking-sonofabitches working in law enforcement as you'd find in, say, retail.

That said, they're still all watching you.

...I don't think you and I are actually disagreeing.  I'm just suggesting that if, say, you get pulled over, you're not going to have a positive opinion of the person doing it, even if you deserve it.  And I think most people's direct experience with police is probably in situations like that.  I may be off-base with that hypothesis; I'm sure it varies by race, class, geographic location, and population density.
