KGB Knowledge Database
« on: January 17, 2009, 06:38:16 PM »

This is the thread for KGB information.

I'm not a big Star Trek fan, but this has always bothered me.

Q: Can you use bullets to kill the Borg, or would they adapt as with energy weapons?

A from KGB: No exact info found.  However, with the holodeck safeties off, even holographic bullets can kill the Borg.  thx.

Reprint your KGB inquiries here, that we may expand our knowledge.

So it's a service for people who are too lazy to check a Wiki themselves.  They're going to make a fortune.

Well, yeah, if you're dumb enough to text them things that you can look up.  But where am I going to go to find out if Borgs die to bullets?  I don't want to know.  (not that even KGB had an answer.)

I also feel that Ocksi's question was a decent use of the service.

I don't get it, Kazz. You never saw Star Trek: First Contact? Cause KGB is just reciting what happens in that movie. I could have done that.

I would assume though, that after you killed a few borg in this fashion, the collective would just upgrade some drones to have kelvar body armour and then best you. That or just start a gun registry on all borg ships.*

*HA HA GET IT, FELLOW CANADIANS?

First Contact is like the only thing I saw.  And I don't actually remember what happened but it was slightly decent.  (I've also seen that Star Trek movie about modern-day LA and saving the whales and it convinced me that there can be no merit in the entire franchise or any of its spinoffs.)

Long guns are exempt.

So you can totally have a redneck shogun-babe vs. the zombie borg apocalypse thing.

 :THATWAY:  No, puny earthling!

Why do you think the Reform party swooped up most of the seats in the west for two election cycles?  Did you think that most of us actually liked his other policies?

Obviously you're not using KGB otherwise you'd know better.  :wat:

...This one is going to need a split.

Thanks to Jean Poutine, Non-Restricted Firearms have to be registered.  Bill C-67

It is against the law to have even a Ruger 10-.22 that has not been registered.

Q: Would a spirit which has the ability to inhabit and control a person's anus be able to use this ability on a vampire (whose anus is present, but defunct)?

A: If the spirit can only affect humans, no, vampires are not considered as humans.  Text us again soon.  thx.

That's bullshit, vampires may be inhuman but it's a strange thing to refuse to call them persons.

EDIT: Huh, so either the word for "discrimination against vampires" doesn't exist, or it looks really silly.

Well, discrimination against people based on race is racism, so...

RE: Borg

I'm going to assume that they would adapt to bullets just like anything els --

 :humpf: Maybe. *Sniff* Maybe.

Well, note that Picard only killed one or two drones with bullets, and then they were never used again, so it can be presumed that the Collective would adapt as usu --

:humpf: The bullets were actually holograms with safety protocols turned off.

OK, fine. So they would have technically adapted to ENERGY being made to BE a bullet, not actual bullets, but I think my point still --

:humpf: I have yet to meet one who can outsmart bullet.

Well, I think the Borg mught have you there, Heavy, because the Collective is able to --

 :humpf: WHO TOUCHED MY GUN?!

I don't see how that's rele --

:humpf: The bullets were actually holograms with safety protocols turned off.

...when did he say that?

Anyway, I have faith that the Borg can adapt to kinetic energy as easily as any other form.  Probably moreso because it's pretty much the most basic kind of attack.  And even if they couldn't... they're made of, what, titanium?  With the occasional slab of meat?

Yeah, don't forget that in most science fiction that energy weapons are the upgrade from physical or chemical-physical weapons.

The movie you're thinking of is Star Trek IV: Somethingorother, and it was actually San Francisco.  Double Dumbass on you.

This was back when they actually had a Naval base still open on Alameda.
