I'm almost convinced to get back into Pokemon. Long RPGs always make me feel unproductive, though, like I could be doing something more profitable with the same time. (Then I waste the time anyway.)

It hits me that it's technically feasible to bring Pokemon from the first generation to current by engineering a cheat. It's possible for a PC program to communicate with the DS, using certain wifi cards with a special driver. It's also possible to edit a save file and use the R4 cartridge with a second DS to trade from that save file to a real Diamond/Pearl cart. Recreating the old pokemon is just a matter of reading its stat off the screen and deriving the EVs and approximate stat XP from that.

This is basically what I do because I sure as hell don't have the time to grind every time I think of to 100 or do any of the EV/IV stuff.

Nor is there a Toys R' Us or anything nearby, so no events for me unless I make them myself.

I don't know many people who care enough to raise anything to lvl100.  It doesn't really prove anything.  And I only EV trained because everybody else did and I do like to battle, so I need to at least ...somewhat keep on par with others.

Also, with Platinum, there will at least be a couple events where you won't have to go to Toys-R-Us.  Finally wifi events.

My battling is pretty much limited to Lyrai since she's my team testing monkey.

Fly (is a) good move in battle.
Don't post again please.

Thanks,

Fly is truly a bad move. Just use Aerial Ace twice.

I find two turn moves in general to be terrible.

Two turns moves are pretty terrible, but I still love sky attack on my Altaria. Which coincidentally also has solarbeam, which isn't so bad as long as it's sunny.

Actually, Fly got better, because it's 90 power and not 70 anymore.

Also, I hatched a shiny Charmander once for a friend. I don't really care that much about shinies, no big deal.

I only care about shiny pokemon if they look better with the alternate color scheme.

Like NiggerCharizard. :racist:

Didn't actually take as long as I thought, either. It helped that I wanted to breed a Charmander as well, though.

I only managed about seventy Pokemon when there were still only 150. If Nintendo thinks I'm going to collect all 468 and hunt down shiny variants of each, they're going to be disappointed.

How do you get event-only pokemon, anyway? Do you still need those before the game congratulates you on catching 'em all?

I skipped GSC/RSE and played a little bit of LeafGreen, but really got back into it with D/P/Pl...

...and I still don't care to catch'em all.

Makes you wonder just how many more of the little bastards they're going to come up with.

Shinies lost some of their luster (pardon the pun) when I realized you could get almost any one of them you wanted over global trade, albeit with ridiculous requests attached (lvl 9 Regigigas anyone?).

HMs are garbage mostly, but since I only actually raise 2 or 3 mons through the game, having the other half of my team as HM slaves was never really a problem.

Shinies don't lose the charm if you don't cheat.  I know that's real hard.

Actually, I was doing a little research last night, and, apparently, the Regigigas you can find in Platinum is level 1. :ohshi~:

Also, somewhere in the world, you can fish for a level 100 Magikarp  :ohshi~: :ohshi~: :ohshi~:
