McDohl, that's the sort of crap I was posting in #pyokomon when I was bored.  You didn't have to look any of that up.

Also: omigosh, Kazz is such a sweetie :3  He picked up my copy of Platinum with the toy and everything.  Awesome.

Duke, hush.  I was bored last night at work, staring at Serebii.

I'm onto you Dohl.  I think I will start playing this tomorrow afternoon.  How almost exciting.

I hear Skymin gets a ridiculous flinch rate.

Also, somewhere in the world, you can fish for a level 100 Magikarp

That... that is fantastic.

Shinies don't lose the charm if you don't cheat.  I know that's real hard.

If I can get one from a trade, I'm not going to ponder for hours over what the other guy in Japan MIGHT have done to get it.

I don't see what Persona 5 has to do with any of this...

Got my copy.  Wondering exactly how many days it will take to get my shiny turtwig, but it doesn't matter that much now anyway since I already had the only big test that was standing in my way of making me worry about playing pokemon.  The interesting thing is that so far, I've had a strangely high number of female turtwigs so far.

Europe has to wait another eight weeks. The last time this happened, #finalfight went nuts over Diamond and Pearl for about seven weeks.

Minor spoilers ahead?

I really like what they've done with Platinum. It just makes D/P look... well, unfinished. The addition of more pokemon definitely helps, but even the subtle changes to the routes, adding items in routes, adding events to help guide the player-- this game is just much, much better than D/P. Even the changes to the department store and gyms are nice. Also, thank christ the marsh isn't total hell anymore.

Kinda wish the Interpol dude was a bit more competent and not just, you know, a moron. But I guess this is a kid's game so

This is Pokemon.  All of the world's crises have to be stopped by the player's avatar.  It just wouldn't do if everyone did everything for you.  Sure, Cynthia could whip Cyrus's ass from the Distortion World and back, but that wouldn't do at all.

I'm really just disappointed that he isn't like "I'm too suspicious, but take this silenced Walther PPK and infiltrate the Galactic base, will you?"

I've always enjoyed the conceit that, once having lost a pokemon duel, even the most hardened criminal will just shrug his should and say "Well, I guess that's that".

The idea is that any given pokemon is powerful enough to severely put the hurt on an unarmed human: if all your pokemon are out of commission, you have nothing to use to defend yourself against a person whose pokemon are not. By implication, once you beat the hardened criminal, you are threatening his life with the pokemon that just defeated his.

Still doesn't explain why they start blabbing secrets, though.

I wouldn't draw a gun on a dude commanding a penguin made of steel who can spray water through my giant snake also made of steel.

Who would even bother having guns when you can just have a cute fuzzy loving and loyal deathmachine instead?

You know what I love about Pokemon?

A wild Golbat appears!  Command?
>Thunder Fang
Golbat used Confuse Ray!
Luxray was confused!
Luxray is confused!
It hurt itself in its confusion!
Golbat attacks!
Luxray is confused!
It hurt itself in its confusion!

Luxray snapped out of confusion!
Luxray used Thunder Fang!
Golbat fainted!

I think the best part of this game's random chance thingo is that when I was fighting my rival at right when we got our pokemon, his used Leer for every move. Then when I fought him the next time, his Chimchar used Leer for every move again. In fact, every pokemon I encountered that could know Leer just used that for every move every time. No joke.

You could have stopped here. This is enough.

I used to keep a Growlithe in my party. The sole reason was that Roar made things like Golbat go away.
