Also: Thad has once again reminded me that I am totally mystified as to why anyone would move to southern AZ.

Well, my kvetching about last night aside, the weather's pretty gorgeous right now.  A little warm indoors since we're not using the AC, but nice outdoors for bike riding and such.

Winters without snow have their advantages, and the climate's good for people with respiratory problems; my family moved here because my great-uncle had asthma.  (Of course, the brown cloud over Phoenix is NOT good for people with respiratory problems.)

And ASU's easy to get into.

Sadly, I don't consider "easy to get into" a positive attribute of a post-secondary institution.

The others I can understand though.

I shouldn't be reading this topic.  Los Angeles and all.

I mean, the temperature is great here.  The only bad thing is every single other thing.

Uh, yeah, but there are a lot more people who can't get into Harvard than can.

Trying AC tonight, at a modest 77.  Good news is that my room seems substantially cooler than that, even with the door closed.

Which is good, because when the door was open the cats came in, and they're assholes.

I was walking in the Mission today and things were looking a bit surreal. Bernal Hill had this dark stormy grey behind it, but the Eastern part of the sky was all afternoon sun. It made the hill have that fakey cut-out look that you get in mixed weather, sort of similar to the way an open-air stadium feels at night/sunset with all the bright lights turned on.

Also, it was raining so lightly it felt like a warmer version of snow and even sort of hung in the air a bit. Luckily it didn't pick up. I was worried I would end up drenched.

45 outside. Raining, while I loaded from the dock.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' And I'll look down, and whisper 'no.'

Well, it was sunny ten minutes ago.

Now I look outside, it's flurries.

Now, it's hail.

There's a seagull outside my window trying to go across the harbour.  He just stopped and hunkered down in the depot across my street.

It's now back to snow, and the temperature is well above freezing.  The funny thing is that two weeks ago, the infinite amount of cherry blossoms started blooming.   I suspect it will be time to break out the snowblower again to tackle those bothersome flower pedals.

I have a bit of a date this afternoon at this outdoor cafe by the inner harbour.  I hope she'll get in touch with me before that now..

Oh, it's back to rain.

Edit:  It all stopped, and it's sunny again.  All this in ten minutes.

Not much use when they're hiding under my bed.  I had to go and get a broom.

...Anyway.  It FEELS cooler today, but a check on the weather site says it's actually not, and the expected cooldown has been pushed back to NEXT week.

Didn't use the AC much last night.  Left it on long enough to cool the house to 77 and then turned it off and opened the windows, and it stayed there.

Of course, we're still in the time of year where it's cool at night.  Come July, the lows will be higher than our current highs.

Ah, if only I could "cool the house to 77." I would love a streak of blazing hot.

Over the past couple weeks, it seemed to be getting unseasonably warm (for, well, northern California), reaching about 75 degrees. Yesterday it dropped twenty full degrees despite being every bit as sunny. Guess there's a storm coming, since now I'm seeing some clouds on the horizon... it'll probably be raining by the weekend.

The biggest problem with leaving your window open is, of course, noise.  Your brain learns to tune out train whistles in pretty short order, but lawnmowers and large trucks are another matter.

As are fucking idiots screaming "WHOOOOOOOOOOO" at 1 AM.

Still, going to enjoy the whole open-window thing as long as I can.  Our highs are going to be in the low 80's for awhile, it looks like.

So funny story,

For some reason, people pass by my street doing just that.  And while the sea is right across the road, noise seems to still come through my paper-thin walls as if a noise repeater was included in my monthly rent.

So this night, some people did just that with the "wooos' and the "heeeeeys" and the "hoo-haws" on a monday night.

I was annoyed and pissed off as I had to rise in three.  Then for some reason those fools started up my stairs of all places.  Immediatly I knew they must have mistaken my digs for one three doors down.  Wow, drunk.

So I jumped out of bed, threw on my blackest clothing, and my black cap and waited for them to try to open the door.  After three minutes of attempting with the key, they didn't get the point, so I opened the door in their faces.

In a very calm voice with the light of my fish tank as a backlight, I said "This, is not my home.  Understand that at this point, you best be elsewhere".

I glared.

And those idiots didn't say a word all the way back to their place.

So, on Saturday and Sunday it jumped up to 86 degrees, only to drop to about 50 on Monday. Spring is stupid.  :hurr:
