Come to think of it, considering there was a large transformer explosion in NYC and a wide swath of the city is in fact without power right now, I'm actually mildly impressed the server's still up.

Doing a bit of work on permissions; let me know if anything gets messed up.

I'll get to details in a minute, but: if you find you can't access a board or something, tell me in this thread. If you can't post in this thread, send me a PM/IM/E-Mail/whatever. If you can't read this thread, then you can't read this; disregard.

So okay. The board permissions are spaghetti because each board has its own set of permissions -- Real Life, Death Panel, Media, all the way down; 29 boards with 29 permission sets.

This is silly because we only need maybe six permission sets (Real World, Guild Hall, Spam, Admin, Trash, Everything Else), and it's a real bear for troubleshooting (like, say, a spambot gets out of the dome).

So I'm trying to clean it up. Here's what I~~'m gonna do~~ did (wow, much quicker than I expected):

[X] Remove Salvaged Topics; merge threads into ~~High-Context~~ Guild Hall
[X] Remove Lust
[X] Set to Default perms:
[X] Real Life
[X] Media
[X] High-Context
[X] Gaming
[X] Hookers
[X] TF2
[X] WoW
[X] Forum Games
[X] VvW7
[X] VvW8

ADDING: This shouldn't affect ANYTHING. I'm not changing or removing board mods or anything like that. I'm just replacing a couple of dozen individual board perms -- which are IDENTICAL -- with a Default set -- which is identical to all of them. Again, you shouldn't see any change whatsoever from your end -- but let me know if you do.

To that end, I'll wait a few days to do the following, just in case I DID mess something up:

Which reminds me: there's still a Pervert membergroup with 54 people in it that doesn't actually do anything. Do any of the 54 people in the group object to me deleting that along with all the unused board permissions?

Hm -- Ringmaster's empty; I could keep it around in case we ever decide to do another Olympics, but then I'd need to keep the Olympics perm set to RECOGNIZE the Ringmaster group anyway. Guess I'll plan on nuking both and recreating them if we ever need them again; that's probably easier than maintaining a separate Olympics group for four boards that are just archival anyway.

Somehow that upgrade broke every single mod we have. I'll be working on that over time.
