Everyone else: Please for the love of whatever you take holy, don't turn this into an us vs. them or 'so and so did/said...' thread. This board is thriving, and there are handfuls of good, content-filled posts. Can we be happy with that?
Good call; I've avoided responding to the thread over there for precisely that reason. My point is more that a community requires a certain level of trust and unity to function, and after ousting the founder and the entire admin team, people kind of feel like their standing in the community doesn't mean a damn thing, and repeatedly insulting people who have contributed a hell of a lot over the years is perhaps not the best way to reforge those bonds. (That may sound a tad hypocritical coming from these quarters, but there's a difference between calling someone an idiot and actually telling him the community will be better off without him. I can only recall two occasions where I've ever done the latter, and they were both instances of egregious, months-long trolling from people who I had given many chances by that point.)
Flipside is that Vance has started all the currently-thriving threads over there, so he IS doing SOME things right.
And for the record, Romo's hitting all the right notes as an admin, trying to avoid the "us vs. them" squabbling and being very responsive to requests and criticisms. He's been put in charge at a very awkward time, and I don't envy him for it, but he's a good choice and he's doing a good job.
I don't see it as "us" and "them"; we're all "us". This community is bigger than which board you post on or which IRC channel you hang out in.
...Anyway. Back to the here and now: I like the uncluttered profile displays, but of course I am a Web design minimalist. I think karma and money are stupid and have no interest in trying to be any more Pyoko Junior than we already are.
Numbers junkie that I am, Det's "half the posts are by Arc or Thad" comment has interested me in seeing a more in-depth stat system. I can see the per-day breakdown of posts in a month, but not how many posts an individual user (other than myself) wrote in that month. Since I can see my OWN posts per month, I assume that's just a flag that needs to be set somewhere in public profile settings, but I can't say for sure.
