Er, pretty much every gaming system out there has its own disc format, except the PC which you can just slot in higher-speed drives as they become available.

Which is not to say we're not looking forward to longer load times, but it's just not Blu-Ray's fault. I don't own a third-next-gen system yet but what I've seen they all seem to be designed to give you some time to stretch, do some cardio, maybe go make a sandwich before a stage loads. At least they haven't snuck in commercials yet.

We've also got games like DMC4 that install about 5 gigs onto your PS3 which (supposedly) do away with load times. I'm not sure how long that procedure is, though.

Another reliable source states that it doesn't even alleviate the load time issue all that much. Said source also mentioned that he'd have been pissed about buying the thing, if he hadn't gone into a pool to pay for the thing. How big a pool? Let's just say the number of people required to obtain a PS3 is almost enough to kill Luca Blight.

Actually, when I heard that Bob was working on a Smash bit for SA (after the initial annoyance that I hadn't thought to ask him to do it first) we went and compared notes to make sure that we weren't working on the exact same thing. There are occasional bonuses to there being a grand total of ten videogame writers in the world.

But I know how much you love pointing out what a plagiarist I am whenever I have the temerity to make a joke about a videogame on the internet. I won't kick you in the bag over it. Mostly because you're way the fuck over there.
