Masterpiece Grimlock is revealed, along with a few other things.  Mickey Mouse, for one thing.

All Hall Megatron #3

[...]

And the clues as to what happened between Revelation and here are equally well-broached; rather than speaking in heavy-handed exposition, they speak naturally of things they already know about even if the audience doesn't.  (In fact, it took a few panels for me even to realize Megatron was referring to Revelation; I thought at first he was suggesting that a human had betrayed the human race, rather than speaking of Nova Prime's betrayal of the Autobots.)

He wasn't.  Per #4, there's been a RECENT Autobot betrayal, and it appears that Ironhide thinks it was Mirage.

Other than that, fucking nothing happens in #4.  Look, the slow pacing was okay for the first two, maybe even three issues, and there were some good bits in there.  But what the fuck?  We're no farther along than we were at the end of #1.  The Decepticons have taken over Earth, the humans are on the run, and Prime is in a coma, for reasons that are STILL unexplained THREE ISSUES LATER.

FUCKING DO SOMETHING.

I liked the bit with Megatron and Starscream last month, but ENOUGH ALREADY with the giant robots STANDING AROUND TALKING.  And enough with the humans.  The only one I give a fuck about is Sparkplug Witwicky, and frankly HE'S kind of a dick, and he's in ONE PANEL of this issue.

The plot had fucking-well better advance next issue, or I guess I'm down to reading Spotlight.  And frankly THAT hasn't been great the last few months either.

(I WILL say one good thing: showing that Mirage is the Autobot who Ironhide suspects entirely through the art was a nice touch.  The storytelling's way too decompressed, but for that one panel it works really well.)

I think All Hail Megatron's biggest flaw beyond glacial pacing is that the entire thing feels like it was made to cash-in/sate a fanboyish love of the original show.  Heck, the sudden disappearance of almost any post '85 character?  The changes of design to be more inline with existing toys or original character models?  The lines used by characters?

I mean, I know that Transformer comics are full of fanwank, always...but this is the wrong sort.  It's the narrow-minded Dreamwave mini sort that I didn't like that.

Which is odd, since I grew up watching G1 endlessly.

All Hail Megatron #5 picks up the pace but it's still raising more questions than it's answering.  (Last time we saw Kup, he was brain-damaged and delusional; here he's back to his old lovable self.  And still no word on what happened to Optimus.)  The humans, as always, are the weak link.  This issue at least keeps it down to a scene between Sparkplug and Spike, but it's as bad as any of the other human crap we've had to put up with up to this point.  Sparkplug sends Spike on a suicide mission to kill Megatron; he's barely left the camp when he's attacked by Ratbat and apparently killed.  It is possible that there are people reading this comic who are legitimately dumb enough to think he really died a few pages into his first appearance in this universe, and if so maybe they felt some sense of pathos when Sparkplug was all BAWWWWWW about it, but on behalf of the audience members capable of dressing themselves, it was just eye-rolling maudlin crap followed by a very very very obvious last-page reveal.

That said, the Autobot stuff works, and Jazz gets to kick some ass, so it's much better than last issue.

I guess this thing's got 7 more issues to go, and the next mini is Furman doing Dinobots.  Might give that one a miss.

So I hear the first part to the movie tie-in was decent.  Thad, you're my go to man for the comic info, since you have a higher pain threshold than myself.  What's your opinion?

I quit reading the movie tie-ins because they all sucked.

Except Reign of Starscream, which was okay.

Honestly, I think Transformers is next on my "books I'm going to stop paying for" chopping block.  Though I'll wait until the end of All Hail.

Thad, no longer reading badly written Transformers comics?

What chance, then, do the rest of us have?

Quote from: tformers.com
Empire Magazine... confirmed the Fallen character is a separate individual...

According to Michael Bay,
Megatron really is dead. The Decepticon leader Megatron will NOT return
in Revenge of the Fallen. The images going around are for a new action figure Hasbro is releasing.

The article states there will be approximately forty robots in the film...

The article goes on to state Devastator is roughly 50 feet...

Mistakenly, new puny human characters have also been casted.

"Vengeance is coming" was the tagline for my friend's high school student film about Pikachu killing stuffed animals with a sword-shaped letter opener.

In conclusion, fuck Transformers

Of note:

Shit gets WRECKED
Prime gets his faceplate punched off
IT'S STARSCREAM
Note that the gigantic wheeled thing that makes Optimus look tiny is NOT Devastator, but only one of seven vehicles that make him.
