I'm almost literally addicted to discussion and reading so I don't feel so bad that I've been here for what, eight years?

It's just that I spend hours and hours every day just visiting forums and seeing "Hey what new posts are there?!", even though only a small fraction of the content is at all interesting.

The times when I've been way from forums (or the internet) for a week or longer have only been beneficial, and I rarely miss posting, or checking for new posts like some kind of OCD nitwit. I mean, I have excuses like "I need to waste fifteen minutes" or "I have nothing to do at work", but I could go back to writing or drawing and maybe even accomplish something.

I would live a much more peaceful, happy, and productive life without constant internet blatherwick, but I'm just so starved for human interaction and discussion that this is all I have left (if my wife and I didnt see each other for half of every day, most of the time we would qualify as complete hermits with little to no social interaction other than the internet).

How about an anti-nerd moment?

...I don't have any RL friends...

Sounds like a standard nerd moment to me.

When I draw and want to erase something I still occasionally have the rather ineffective and frustrating reflex of wanting to hit ctrl-z.

I was save state whoring through ... uh... some game? R-Type 3, I think. Anyway, I had been playing forever. Then I stopped, walked out my bedroom door into the kitchen, stubbed my toe, cursed, and loaded state.

I actually stood there for like, five seconds, wondering why it wasn't working, or if I had accidentally hit the wrong button and save stated at the moment of stubbing my toe.

I have, after playing diablo for hours, gone to get a snack and been unsure how to manipulate a knife with my mouse cursor in such a way as to make a sandwich.

not only do I think of myself as Fortinbras a lot of the time, a nontrivial number of my friends do too.

well first off you will need your cube handy

Luckily, Friday was the name I went by long before I started using the net regularly enough to need a name for it. The only person who calls me by my real name is my brother.

I don't like it when people around campus call me Miss Cat Ears, because it's weird.  My sober friends call me by my name but when they are drunk they call me Ams.  Or Labes.
