This guy used to belong to MadMaxJr! Well, the dial base did.

I have more elf dorks I could convert, but I think I'm going to switch to something else for a bit. Not sure what's next.

This is probably the best thread to ask. I have some small resin parts to a model kit that I want to make duplicates of. What's the best way to do that, Mongrel (or anyone else)?

How complete do you need the copies to be? I have some instant mold (a silicone compound you heat up and press onto the object to create a mold), which works pretty well for light simple stuff, but it's not the best for 360° stuff - better for reliefs or just one side. Which is not to say you can't make 360° molds out of instant mold, but it's much more difficult and the process risks damaging the original (because you need to cut the mold off).

Also, how high-precision do you need this to be? Because any press-on mold material isn't the greatest for super precise stuff (precise in terms of a mechanical fit, not in terms of detail - instant mold is pretty decent for retaining detail).

I'm sure that there are geekier things than a sci-fi samurai elf chick wargaming figure... but I sure can't think of any right now.

I really tried to push myself further with this one. Partially because it's such a cool figure, but also because it was a special issue sold to raise money for a well-known indie wargame designer, after his newborn daughter died suddenly.

I even hand-painted the gilt base markings.

Jesus, you're still working on amazing figures and putting them on bases for a game that died in like 2005.  That detail work on the cape over the fold is pretty god damned amazing.

I mostly talk to older European wargamers, for whom "doing your own thing" is pretty normal. Playing like, stock 40K or Warmachine would be anathema to me.

I am getting into a new game though (Pulp Alley)! I will post figures once I get working on those.
