I bought a USPS scale for just such things. I think they can be had on eBay for like $15

I also bought about a hundred bubble-lined mailers for sending out games and DVDs off eBay. I almost never pay in excess of $5 to ship them in the US with delivery confirmation, or even Canada. Usually just under $3.

I have an old Canon Canoscan LiDE 30 scanner. Canon decided to be sacks of shit and not make Win7 drivers and there are no homebrew solutions, so I will ship this thing to anyone for the cost of shipping. Still works fine mechanically. Good with Win98 etc. You might be able to make it work in Linux/Unix? Dunno, haven't tried.
