I got KotOR for free at PAX last year for attending the Old Republic panel, but since there is no sane wide screen solution for the game, and I already played the shit out of it on Xbox back in the day, I likely won't ever even install it.

Speaking of which I am using a sane widescreen solution.

Star Wars: Empire at Gold for $5. I got it, having found that I love RTSs. I'm hoping Jedi Knight is one of these deals, I know my brother still needs that.

Well, I got a BOGO deal on the two Monkey Island SEs and thought I did pretty well, so if you haven't been chumped into getting one of them yet this finale is pretty awesome.

Bear in mind that you're probably going to effectively be paying for an emulated version of the original games though.

Thanks for making me check to see if they released MI2 SE for the iPhone: they did, and at least for right now both SEs for iPhone/iPad are $.99 a piece.

The entire Tales of Monkey Island series for five bucks.

If When the TellTale Everything Pack becomes $50 again and I end up with two copies, I think I'll be okay with it.

See normally I would snap up this Batman sale but I'm so burned on Steam right now that even at a 66% discount I'm just not that damn interested, even for a game I wanted to play.

Sorry, Valve.  We had a good thing for a while, I guess.

Sounds like Brent has backlog problems.

I feel bad for you son. You got 99 problems and a each of those problems represents a game you haven't even installed.

...we determined the Steam version of Arkham had DRM worse than the retail version, right?

It has SecuROM with a 4 machine activation limit. I have no idea if that's worse than the boxed retail, I suspect it's identical.

The retail copy has no activation limit, though I think the Steam version is 4 a month and not 4 hard.

It's just limited by the number of machines you can install it to, not the number of times you can install it.

AI War and its expansion, The Zenith Remnant, are both 50% off in celebration of a new "micro-expansion," Children of Neinzul. AI War is a grand strategy/4x/tower defense/rts and it's really fun if you're into that sort of thing (or maybe even if you aren't).

AI War pits up to 8 human commanders in a battle with 2 highly overpowered AI. This game is all about guerrilla warfare as you try to find the AI's home planets without causing such damage as to piss the AI off enough to rain hell upon your pathetic army until you forget what not being on fire felt like.

I'm not good at explaining things, so there's a demo that gives full access to the game only your campaigns can last at most 3 hours, and that's not really enough time to win even with only 10 planets (galaxy sizes range from 10 planets to 120) and the AI set to fail mode (difficulty goes from 1 ["sandbox"] to 10 ["Doom"]).

http://www.arcengames.com/ these people deserve your money. Also, Children of Neinzul proceeds all go to Child's Play. So, you know. Altruism and whatnot.

P.S. Arcen Games currently plan to keep updating this thing until 2013, and so far they've been doing a damn good job of it.

P.P.S. The current price is $10, $5, and $4 for base, expansion, and micro-expansion. It's usually $20, $10, and $4. And also if you don't buy it now a similar sale will probably happen in December when Expansion 2 ("Light of the Spire") comes out.

Would I have to buy everything to be able to play with people?

No. The game host has the ability to turn on/off any expansions he has, in case he doesn't want them or someone joining doesn't have them. The only problem with the multiplayer is that you have to connect using the host's IP address, and they have to have ports forwarded (or else you have to use a VPN like hamachi). I heard somewhere that Arcen will fix this eventually, but their main focus so far has been on perfecting gameplay.

Edit: if you don't know anyone that you want to play this game with, or just want to jump into a public game or something, the website has a pretty active community via forums/IRC.

That sounds pretty messed up. They've made enough money to make two expansions, so there has to be people playing this. I might pick it up.

http://www.arcengames.com/about.php It's a company of six people, so I'm willing to give them some slack with the multiplayer interface.

So not only Poker Night has a pre-order hat, but you'll be able to play bonus rounds for TF2 items.

Don't ask me, I preordered a couple weeks ago.

I wish I could claim I was savvy enough to have predicted this obvious development, but the fact is I just got the right amount of curious and impulsive. :nyoron:

This does mildly soothe the pangs of pre-emptive regret, however.

Mildly.
