Re St Pts Dy

If people are going bar-hopping, what's the point of getting drunk before you arrive at the bar?

Furthermore, why would the bus pick up a clot of swaying, screaming, poorly-dressed tuneless thickies instead of the nice art students back at the east campus?

Re: Buge

Bars=Paying for way more than just booze. It is not economical to get thoroughly sloshed without a "primer" of some kind.

thickies>NASbatEC because... ... Hm. :mystery:

Uh, because the sober people are less likely to kill themselves and others if they get behind the wheel?

At Classic's university there are enough bars close enough together such that if you get a shot at each bar you come across, staying only as long as it takes to consume that shot, he can only make it halfway up the main strip into town.

This is meant to be a reflection on the number of bars in close proximity, not on how weak Classic's alcohol tolerance is.

Split-merged into this thread.

I actually did not drink today.  Overindulged on Thursday, suffered a wicked hangover all Friday, have only had one beer since.  (Sidenote: Thursday was an aberration; I'm usually very, very good at pacing myself, keeping track of how much I've had, padding it with water, etc.  My last hangover was six years ago, and also occurred on spring break.)

Roomie appears to have had more than enough for both of us; he got up at 5 this morning to go to the local brewery, which today opened at 6.  He was there until around noon.  As I understand it, he and four or five other guys wound up spending a total of $250, after a 20% discount and several free rounds.

He giggled girlishly for about half an hour after I got home from class a little after noon, then went to bed.  Since then I have only seen him stumble out of his bedroom in boxers a couple of times to get more water.

I didn't drink at all yesterday. I was kind of thinking about it, but then I just didn't bother.

Talk like that makes me doubt your commitment to alcoholism.

I actually forgot that I was supposed to drink yesterday.  When was the last time I had a drink?  I've been too busy needing one to actually have one.

That never stops hoboes.  You're just not applying yourself like they do.

Damn it, I didn't drink on St. Patty's day either. I had a pint of Kilkenny on the Saturday before when I took my day to this British Pub place for lunch at least. What the hell is wrong with us?

Well actually, I have an excuse with my father's very British heritage. I don't think the Brits celebrate the holiday very much. I'm pretty sure they are still a little sore over the whole IRA thing.

I'll start with one that I just made up last week that had the potential to be awful but turned out pretty okay:

The Dr. McNinja

1 highball glass, chilled
1/2 glass crushed ice
1 shot vanilla rum
3/4 shot glass sake
Fill remaining glass with Dr. Pepper (I used diet).

Otherwise, I don't drink much (still working on the upstate vinyard wines my wife and I purchased last thanksgiving), and when I do, I'm usually knocking back a glass of wine or a pale ale or something, but if I do order a mixed drink, it's usually an extra dry vodka martini (because I can't stand gin).

I had sake for the first time recently.  You could probably run a car with it.

Warm.  I don't like liquor anyway, but this stuff was like utility strong.

Sake can be mild -- at any rate, milder than the harsh paint-thinner kind.  Can't say I know enough about the stuff to know what's good, but I usually split a bottle with my dad when we go out for sushi.
