I'd like to think this dude would calm down if somebody patiently explained to him that an "array index" isn't actually an index at all, but a memory offset, and has been since way the fuck before BCPL and always will be for any language that calls itself system-level, but I suspect he'd just froth and rage against every programmer in the world for another 3 pages.

(Now does this work for Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, etc.? NOPE, but it's nice to not have to keep track of what standard THIS language happens to use - which is why most languages allow the sort of ambiguity that Zara just posted.)
