If the worst thing you can say about Skyrim is that it breaks in entertaining ways...

Worst thing I can say about Skyrim is I couldn't shout the Jarl's kid to death when she wouldn't stop bitching about sweetrolls.

Uh, the worst thing i can say about it is that the main storyline is pretty weak, to the point that i avoid it not only because the game instills exploration-based ADD, but because i actually don't want to do it.

the worst thing i can say about it is that it is a bad game with a bad interface that i have a bad time playing, but double fisting magic is making me keep wanting to play it

i guess i'll probably keep picking at this scab a little just to make sure it is really actually a festering wound

The game does appear to have an interface that manages to to suck on both Keyboard+Mouse AND ps3/360 controllers.

Which is a goddamn feat.

uh, could be better.

i think the interface is mostly pretty slick, and i play keyboard+mouse. my only serious complaint is that confirmation windows require you to hit y/n instead of enter/tab like everything else, and when i say "serious complaint" i mean "serious fucking complaint."

Mouse use in menus is inconsistent and mostly doesn't work. Esc won't cancel out of regular menus. Visual prompts are hardcoded. If you have a 360 controller plugged in the game hard defaults to it (and the option isn't in the Controls menu, and you can't change it at all pre-starting-your-first game)...

And this is just off the top of my head at the bus stop.

i did run into the controller thing, i forgot that. i didn't know there was a problem with the mouse in menus! i have been playing with keyboard almost entirely, because i am an FFXI player. what do you mean "visual prompts?"

Press E to do this!

(This is a really common problem but I have no idea why)

I keep hearing this complaint, over and over again, so I suspect it'll be a matter of days before someone modfixes it.

I discovered that it actually does have hotkeys, though. Highlight an item in the quick menu and press a number key.

you can only hotkey from the favorites menu, not from the items menu, that is a bit annoying. But still, great find.

Speaking of hotkeys, inventory, and the favorites menu:
If you have a spell double-equipped to L and R, the only way at all to remove that spell entirely (say, to place another double-equipped spell) is to equip a physical item in one of the hands. Otherwise the original spell will always stay in one hand.

NOPE NOTHING WRONG WITH THE INTERFACE TO THIS GAME

Having looked into it, it appears to be a known bug and not an oversight in UI design, but that is still pretty fucking massive, given how much emphasis is placed on double-equipping spells.
