Presumably at some point you emerge from your story line cocoon entirely and end up in some kind of MMO world, yes? What do you do then?
Do the endgame and kill other players. It's a fucking MMO.

The point would get across without such potential for me to be a disregarding dick if that list were a quarter of the size. Sorry WoW came up with parrying, taunting and blocking.

The only one I have a problem with there is actually Vigilence. Because Warhammer Online had it before WoW did as "Guard".

Warhammer Online was done by EA/Mythic, and the team from that was shuffled over to Bioware for TOR.

It's not that WoW came up with it that is the problem. Warhammer Online used Parry/Block/Dodge/Threat and I don't recall anyone having a problem with that. It's the fact that TOR is using the exact same mechanics after touting "WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE LIKE WOW"

Retaliation is being pointed out as the worst offender, since it is copying one of the more unique warrior abilities basically wholesale.

It does not help that the Sith warrior tank uses the same resource mechanic as a warrior does, and it increases in almost the same intervals.

It's not even the exact same mechanics - I expect that, to be honest. It's the exact same ABILITIES that kind of drives me crazy. It's like someone went down a list of warrior tanking abilities and said "Hey, we should put these in TOR".

Like, the last stand TOR equivelant, working exactly the same as it does in WoW? Really?

Or Sunder Armor stacking to five stacks, exactly like it did in pre-cata wow? For the same total% of armor reduction?

... Where in that list exactly do they even mention straight taunt/parry/block? Hell, Taunt is only even mentioned in a side-effect of gaining Vigilance. Nothing in that list has to do with base standard mechanics.

They need to ride the wave as far as it goes before the game ends up FTP.

Just like you found it hilarious when Nintendo did the same thing, right?

If you had been paying $50 to get just the Ambassador certificate on your 3DS home screen then yeah, sure.

Few things get the e-peen going in an MMO faster than "I've been playing since launch!" so I'm sure it will get them some subs. However, an early adopter title will only mean anything if the game actually lasts a few years with a respectable player base OTHER than the people who bought it at launch.

Watching TOR fall apart is like watching the first month of Age of Conan, Rift and Warhammer play out, except this game had a budget of the other three combined.

I keep watching the BroTeamPill review because it's just so amazing.

That said: Do we have any hard numbers if it's dropping or how fast?

On the one hand, there's a chance this means BioWare will get gutted by EA.

On the other hand, maybe that's already happened?

Well, this is what I found after two seconds on Joystiq: 1.7 Million Active Daily Users as of February 1st.

From the comments:

Quote
To be fair, our two subscriptions were randomly charge $15 each a few days ago without our permission (I thought I had removed my credit card - apparently not!) and several calls to Bioware's support have resulted (both times) in "sorry sir, my computer system is down, I can't view your account, please call back in 30-60 minutes".

I guess not letting people cancel is one way to keep your numbers up!
