Yeah, I never store my credit card info with ANYBODY if it's at all avoidable.

I'm pissed enough that Apple thinks they should have it to let me download free shit from the App Store.

4) Netflix/Hulu+/Amazon Prime all require you to have gold service ontop of being a subscriber of the applicable service.

By the way, have I mentioned how much I hate this. How so very much I hate this? No, I haven't. But seriously, fuck Microsoft over this.

That is actually the entire reason I use my PS3 way more now.  There was a time when I was only turning on my consoles for Netflix, and my live subscription ran out, so I started using the PS3 app instead.  And now that I feel like playing games again, I'm in the habit of using my PS3 anyway, so.

SSF2THDR

Hey, what's that thing usually go for?

$12, apparently.

So yeah, $15.89 for that and some other stuff sounds like a good deal.  Bet I can find someone to play FF with, and I bet I can even talk my fiancee into some Puzzle Fighter.

...come to think of it, I never got around to the Arkham games and Asylum's DRM fuckery probably makes the Xbox version preferable.  Probably go PC for City, though.

...oh, you mean 100 MS Points is not equivalent to a dollar?  Har.

Anyway.  Got the thing, set it up.  Mostly enjoying it.

Haven't gotten a second controller yet.  Local used shop has one for $30 or so.  Amazon's got them new for $35 and the PC version (which I guess is just the controller plus a USB dongle) for $41.  On the one hand, I'm pretty irritated by the whole Let's Deprecate DirectInput thing and am miffed enough that I would never buy a 360 controller just to use it on a PC; on the other, seeing as I now own a 360 and intend to buy another controller anyway, that's a whole other situation so that's probably the best call.

My copy of that Capcom Digital Whatsit came in, and I bought me a used copy of Gears of War and a new copy of Arkham Asylum: GTFO Edition.

Haven't grabbed Pac-Man yet.  Anyone know the cheapest place I can get some points?

I'd recommend against City for the PC. Games for Windows live and getting a controller to work with it is fucking murder. You have the 360 controller at least, but I had so many headaches trying to get the game to run that I ended up not wanting to play it once I got it working.

Food for thought; thanks.

On the other hand, I have a $300 video card I am barely using.  It is a conundrum.

It's 80 points per dollar in the US, but in Canada you get 70 per dollar.  The way Sony and Nintendo do their points (1 per cent), they couldn't manage to sneak that bullshit through.

Re: Deadly Premonition

Deadly Premonition OST- Life is Beautiful

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is worth a whirl, but I'm slightly biased.  I mean, c'mon, Deadpool has a counter-stance super where he beats the opponent with his health and super bars.

I'd suggest Dead Rising 1 or 2, both are great.

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City work perfectly with mouse + keyboard due to the elegant combat and travel design.

If you can snag a copy of EDF 2017, I'd say go for it.

What, do you love the horrible camera movement and more gadgets than usable buttons only a controller can provide?

I've played the demo on both.  No preference.

Anybody tried installing a generic HD?

Not something I plan on doing right away (I've got car insurance due in a few weeks) but it looks like it's worth it.  As long as there aren't any nasty surprises like MS deciding it needs to brick my console or ban me from accessing my saves.

It's possible if you don't care about your warranty.

This is always a possibility when doing shit to your xbox. I never found any kind of modding worth it.

But do you know of anybody actually getting a ban for running a generic hard drive?

Because I don't want any account trouble, but I also don't want to pay 50% goddamn markup for a friggin' hard drive.

If you sign in with a non-official hard drive, the best you can hope for is a ban.
