I'd just like to say that the response I got for the art we needed was great: Though it didn't fill all the holes, it went a long way towards finishing this.

Don't worry, it's only a matter of time (and me getting motivated to sit down and spend 10+ hours doing drudgework) before this is released.

Also, hi yyler. I'm watching your FF7 LP because I miss you. Say hi to your alt account for me.

HEY GUYS

GUESS WHO'S SUPER EXCITED CAUSE SHE JUST GOT ALL THE ART

I'll be starting to work on putting this all together now.

However, keep some of the following in mind:

1. I've never done this before, so I might run into problems, which could cause delays.

2. I'm probably going to have to design some filler areas to dole out the items nobody claimed and pad the length of the game, because outside of the (admittedly rather enormous) "final" area I designed like 3 years ago (and have been working on ever since) the game is probably only like, an hour long. If that.

3. I'm going to have to copy over like 10 other level packs, including every screen, sign, switch, note, and teleport, all one by one, manually. I know of no other, faster way to accomplish this. If anyone does know a better, faster way (hi Newbie) feel free to let me know so I can cut some of what I conservatively estimate to be (based on previous experience) 10 hours of mind numbing and exacting repetitive grunt work.

But other than that, there's nothing stopping me from buckling down and getting this shit done. Despite the workload I know is in front of me (and honestly it's only probably half the workload Newbie had to deal with for ek1 and 2) I'm pretty excited that this is finally gonna happen.

I'll keep you guys updated with my progress. I estimate a month or so, but don't hold me to that.

I volunteer to make some filler areas, if you don't mind me just inserting them directly into the master file once all the merges are done.

Vaguely related question; I heard wall swimming got broken and so on, but is there a package available of a KS release with the first two EKs that keep them playable?  I think that's important for ALL THE FANFARE WE'LL GET once 3 is unleashed so people can finally experience the beginning, middle and end of an emotional story unlike any other, where the decisions they make completely shape their experience and outcome.

This -should- work to merge the tile sets of two worlds. I'm not sure that it always works so backup at every step.

1) install 7-Zip from http://www.7-zip.org
2) Create a file named MERGE.BAT in a directory that contains this:

set path=%path%;"c:\program files (x86)\7-zip"
rename map1.bin map1.bin.gz
rename map2.bin map2.bin.gz
7z e map1.bin.gz
7z e map2.bin.gz
copy /b map1.bin + map2.bin map3.bin
7z a map3.bin.gz map3.bin
rename map3.bin.gz output.bin
pause

3) On the same directory, copy the two map.bin files you want to merge, renamed to map1.bin and map2.bin

4) double click on MERGE.BAT

5) you should have a output.bin. rename that to map.bin, put it back on a worlds directory and test

6) merge the other files yourself sorry

Climb Area and Detector Area finished. In the process of copying over Bongo's first area.

Maybe 10-15% of the way there.

Kazz pasted in.

Stush pasted in. (There wasn't much.)

70%.

Fun fact: At one point in the game, I refer to us as "WFE".

Yep. That's how old some of my work for ek3 is.

Not even gonna fuckin' change it.

Managed to slap together an opening cinematic.

Red Key Area finished.

Intermission area leading to Abyss (the area I originally made like 50 years ago back when I thought I'd only be doing one area) finished.

Excepting a few small sections, the "game" part of the game is finished.

Still have a lot to do, though. But we're close. We could see a release in a week or so. Assuming I don't burn out.

85%.
