So I'm now Baroque, Dreaded, and Respectable by virtue of the shit I'm wearing.
...
I kind of also want to become bizarre, but I don't know what any of this does.

As far as I know, it's only used for certain challenges. If you get a connected pet from Watchmaker's Hill, you'll occasionally get an opportunity card for it, and one of the challenges on it needs whatever characteristic the pet itself gives you(depending on the pet, it's +1 to respectable, bizarre, or dreaded).

Baroque, Elusive, and Savage are for use in Knife and Candle. They determine who wins each match.

Dreaded, Respectable, and Bizarre are what Ted says. Essentially, they're "high level" traits that can only be increased by wearing the right equipment/pets/companions. Bizarre challenges tend to be talking to strange people or interacting with the Neath's metaphysical oddness.

Has anyone else completed the Cheesemonger storyline? I'm curious as to how the other choices play out.

So I've begun seeking Mr. Eaten's name. This is probably a terrible idea, but OH WELL.

Here are some access codes. Stick them into your browser's search bar for fun prizes.

Yep. More competition.

Doing terrible things to your body, mind, and soul (and bank account, home, and connections) in pursuit of hidden knowledge is pretty strong stuff. If you stick with it, you'll need to get involved in Knife and Candle. Perhaps we could arrange an... arrangement wherein I earn the iron knife tokens that I need (from you) in order to continue seeking the Name. Then when you get to that point, I'll repay the favor.

Excellent. Once you get involved in Knife and Candle, I will be pleased to be informed.

Got it; I just joined today, so IIRC, I should be able to actually enter the game in a couple of days or so.

Also, not sure if anyone else has purchased companions from the Bazaar, but if you buy a Winsome Dispossessed Orphan, you can pretty much get an endless supply of laudanum from him, provided you have even a decent amount of persuasive(it's green at ~50).

I got a form! I chose The Egg Imponderable. Not sure what that means, but I do like eggs.

It means you are in the perfect position to be stabbed by me!

The basic version of Knife and Candle compares the stat of the attacker's choosing: Elusive, Savage, or Baroque. The winner is the one with the highest stat. Each form has strengths and weaknesses that can be modified through items like the Nephrite Lens.

Feel free to invite me to shady loitering, private suppers, etc.

My plan has developed a snag. The only way to move beyond 50 iron knife tokens is to sell a Waxwail Knife. These knives cannot be purchased except with Prize Tokens. There are so few prize tokens in circulation at the moment that I'm not entirely sure what my next step is.

How vexing!

In other news, Hallowmas has a few days left. Successfully celebrating the feast results in a new equipment slot (Destiny) and some top-notch writing. It also means flirting with high Nightmares for a bit.

Hope that you get the Hallowmas visitor card before the event is over! After getting it, head to your lodgings and use the special option (it'll be either blue or yellow) to raise your Nightmares and Making Waves above 5. Then you can meet a strange visitor! After meeting a visitor, chose the yellow At the Gates of Midnight option that should be at the top of every location.
