Welcome to the future, where everything even remotely interesting is just viral marketing for some other, boring thing.

More details:

Horse_ebooks was bought by current owner on September 14, 2011:

http://gawker.com/horse_ebooks-has-been-a-buzzfeed-employee-since-2011-1377183209

Confirmed that this is about 6 months after SomethingAwful discovered it:

http://splitsider.com/2012/01/the-ballad-of-horse_ebooks/

So it's not as much "Santa is fake", but more of a "A dude killed Santa and has been wearing his skin for two years as an art project"

I thought everyone knew it wasn't really a spambot. I just figured it was some dude having fun being "weird twitter" or whatever.
