I'm pretty sure the American system of law somehow allows politicians and CEOs to be forcefully retired or resigned from their positions while "settling" for being paid as consultants, appearing on reality TV shows and basically getting kickbacks for the rest of their lives.

On further investigation he's under indictment but not in jail awaiting his trial.  So it might take a while, and in the meantime he's trying to accumulate assets I guess.  Possibly to pay for lawyers.

Over the weekend, we cured:

Blindness.

Deafness.

And the parasitic fungus that was killing all those bees.

Next weekend, the true challenge. The Big C.

Canadians.

You know, I would be offended, but it's a nice day out and I think I'd rather sit on the porch with a brewski...

Supreme Court makes it way easier to smuggle things.

Would have been excellent if they had managed to pass this one on yesterday's date, but I guess justice can't always be poetic.

The lineup behind Stevens was unusual. Justices Antonin Scalia, David H. Souter, Clarence Thomas and Ruth Bader Ginsburg formed the majority.

Talk about strange bedfellows.

Of course, I WOULD kinda expect Thomas to fall in the "personal privacy" camp.

Americans are sickening optimists.

Dunno if they're talking about "best days evar" or "better days than in recent memory" there.  Personally with the mood whiplash this country tends to undergo I'm almost terrified of the U.S. flying as high as it did in the 90s again, but that may just be the pussy emo bitch in me talking.

Voters also think it is time for the Obama administration to stop blaming the Bush administration for mistakes and start taking responsibility.

Stopped reading at that point.  How can Obama's administration be considered responsible for shit that happened before they were in power and literally is the direct result of the Bush administration!?

If you had read a sentence further, you'd see the part where it was conducted by FOX news.

I knew it was FOX from the url.  I don't know why I bothered to read beyond the headline.

I find that even better.  Even with the pro-conservative OHMYFUCKINGGODTERRORISTS Fox News slant, the results are overwhelmingly feelgood.  On the other hand...

Read harder.

Opinion Dynamics Corp. conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News from May 12 to May 13. The poll has a 3-point error margin.

What do you have against Opinion Dynamics, now? The serious questions have decent wording so I don't really see any reason to complain.

Stopped reading at that point.  How can Obama's administration be considered responsible for shit that happened before they were in power and literally is the direct result of the Bush administration!?

Obama is going to have to take responsibility for not fixing the economy at some point, you know. Yes, it is mostly the GOP's fault (a decent number of Democrats voted for the deregulation) and McCain would've made it worse, but that doesn't really matter when it comes to responsibility.

For example, the whole bail out idea is just delaying the inevitable. If he doesn't come up with some other method of getting lending to resume, I'd say breaking down the current banking oligopoly, then the economy stagnating for N years is his fault.

We'll probably have to wait until 2010 to get a decent perspective on the consequences of his policies at any rate. So, we'll see.
