Start New Threads
« on: July 01, 2008, 02:56:14 AM »

Start new threads.

Dump threads like "Babble about a videogame" and "I watched a movie" have their place.  Post in them when you don't think your observation or subject is likely to stir up a page's worth of discussion.  However, if you start going on about something that is probably popular (such as FFTA2 or Wall-E) then go ahead and put up a thread.  Don't be afraid of duplicate threads, we'll merge them when we notice (and only if it's a good idea).

Dump threads are easy to post in, but hard to read.  Let's just try a teensy weensy itsy bitsy bit better to organize things, so that your faithful admin team doesn't have to split dump threads quite so much.

See, thing is, most of the split topics emerge naturally in a dump topic like Babble, and then you just have to sort of go from there.  Hell, the subtitle in Babble even so much as states that that's the thread's purpose.  I kind of assumed FFTA2 discussion, for example, was going to end up splitmarged after the second post, but the hell I was going to pester an admin about it.  That sort of thing is why I keep dumping any mod powers I ever manage to pick up.

See, but I'm not going to start a new thread on Psychonauts, because I know nobody else cares right now.

But if it turns out they do, then we can splitmerge.

And by me I mean you, Mister Mortopics.   :pop:

I played a bit of Psychonauts and it wasn't all that great for me. I got to a part where 2d ghost WW2 dudes were everywhere and I had to zap them. Then I pretty much quit.

Guildenstern, I don't think I understand your criteria for a good game.

Psychonauts is a troubled adventure game that plays at being a platformer here and there. It's made brilliant essentially at the power of its world and storytelling somehow casting off the mediocre-to-frustrating gameplay. The scenarios are fun, exciting, and largely memorable, unfortunately actually navigating through them is more work than play, though this may be because I was going for 100% completion (got it, BTW).

Easily Psychonaut's best sequence is in Waterloo World. It's positively funny, incredibly imaginative and a complete blast to play through.

If you guys would give me admin powers I would be more than happy to split threads when I see the need  :slow:

Huh.  That spike in difficulty at the end wasn't nearly as bad as people say, although

Why the HELL do game designers seem to think that the game's climax is the appropriate time to introduce this Little Sister escort bullshit?
