Max Payne review

But as good as a couple of its action beats are, Max still suffers from the heartlessness that makes games emotionally inferior to movies. Nobody ever shed a tear over a video-game character's death.

I'd love for it to be revealed that Dr. Wily really was crushed by that block at the end of MM3, and ever since then Wily's been impersonated by Cossack, Protoman, Mr. X, a robot, evil energy from space, Dr. Light...

Jesus fuck you Christ, McDohl. There's absolutely no way anybody would have guessed that that's a fucking Mother 3 spoiler until they actually read it.

Seriously, dude. Uncool.

Eeyeah, we could probably use a remedial class in spoiler tags about now.

Acknowledging that your spoiler refers to a video game is really not specific enough.

I haven't played that game, but as I understand it that happens in the very beginning.

It's about an hour in, but since the translation just came out today, pretty much any sort of plot information should be considered spoilers. That is my feeling.

The full translation.  Most of you people have been sitting at the halfway point for the last 3 years.

(Me?  I'm going to give it a spin after I finish Oblivion, why not.)

All I have to say is if you didn't release a stream of manly tears at the end of Metal Gear Solid 3, you don't have a soul.

I have cried for the following:
Major James "Paladin" Target (Completely avoidable!)
Alys Brangwyn
The Boss
Malak (Before he got better and I hated him)
...that's a shorter list than I remember.  Usually I cry for happy endings.  Death is kind of a standard occurrence in vidjagames.

Course, statute of limitations is probably up on those.  And of course Aeris and Gremio and all the other obvious examples.
