No his writing is just awesome.

Definitely picking up that Captain America and Thor though, because oh man.

The FCBD Elric story.  It's way too chatty, but I like the multiverse stuff, with the exception of the last shot -- that shit's played.

Not sure if want.

Didn't have Captain and Thor at my store, picked up Judge Dredd, Atomic Robo, Spontaneous, Aspen, and Baltimore and The Tick.

Apparently Dark Horse Digital has its FCBD offerings available for free download, though it requires downloading their app.  Because obviously when you want to give people free stuff, you should erect a barrier to entry instead of just using a standard format.

We talked a bit about Orc Stain, Jame's Stokoe's gorgeous, off-beat fantasy comic, on page 1.

Well, now #1 is up free.

Seriously, go read this thing if you haven't already.  It's amazing.

They Crawl by Night, by Basil Wolverton and Dan Keyes.

Wolverton is best known for his work on the early Mad, but his detailed style extends far beyond gross-out comedy.  His pulpy old SF stories are a joy to behold.

In honor of Minck Oosterveer, who died last weekend in a motorcycle accident, Boom is offering several of his comics for free online.

Kirby Genesis concludes this week; Bleeding Cool is posting the earlier issues for free.

#0 and #1
#2
#3
#4

I've posted briefly about this mini before -- basically, it's...okay.  It's not Busiek and Ross's best work, and neither are Kirby's creator-owned characters his best, but it's decent, especially for free.

Good stuff.

That's weird, I was trying to save the images but even though they're .png, they're unreadable. Doesn't seem like he has some kind of protection script. Huh.

Marvel Avengers Comic Teaches Mad Money Skills

Via Sims:

Quote
At first glance, it struck me as a little odd that Spider-Man, a certified genius who built web-shooters in his basement, would be completely unfamiliar with the very concept of banking. When you think about it, though, it makes perfect sense: Thanks to J. Jonah Jameson's legendary skinflintery, Peter Parker's never really had enough money to necessitate a bank. Seriously, in the '60s, "pawning his microscope" was only behind "swinging around on webs" and "being sad about Uncle Ben" on the list of things Spider-Man did most often.

What's interesting, though, is who he goes to for financial advice:

A billionaire who's gone bankrupt three times, a Norse God with an infinite supply of magic dwarven gold, and an actual communist.
