Coming soon (the music edition)
« on: December 10, 2013, 06:01:06 AM »

So apparently there's an unreleased early-80's Johnny Cash album coming out: http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/2013/12/10/johnny_cashs_lost_80s_album_made_with_popcountry_pioneer_set_for_release.html

Could be good, could just be a terrible money grab, but I am still excited!

Well, on the topic of upcoming albums I am exciting for, this is definitely the front-runner.

A pile of unreleased Cash, though ... interesting.  Why was it never released?

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

Apparently the label thought the album was no good and sat on it.

I mean, maybe they're right? So who knows?

It was recorded in the early 80's, so basically, there's two things going on: 1) Modern Country-pop is just starting to become a thing (and this is a team-up with a young up-and-coming country star, though it's all Cash on vocals, plus 2 songs with Waylon and 2 with June Carter). 2) Johnny Cash was at a personal and professional nadir (mainly due to that being a low point for his substance abuse). However his son seems to think his singing was unaffected (at least according to the article). So who knows?
