Assorted Creations / Kazzerwocky
« on: August 12, 2013, 04:22:53 PM »
'Twas brillig, and the slithy Froctos
did gyre and gimble in the sei.
All mimsy were the Romosomes
   and the Esperaths outgrabe.

Beware the Kazzerwock, my son!
the mans that gun, the whams that hit!
Beware the Joxam bird, and shun
   the frumious Beat Bandit!

He took his vorpal Guild in hand
Long time the Joxam foe he sought
So rested he by the Mongrel tree
And stood a while in thought.

And, as in Upthish thought he stood,
The Kazzerwock, with balls of flame,
Came whiffing through the Ridley wood,
   and Bongoed as it came!

R^2! R^2! And through and through
   the vorpal aubade went Smiler-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
   He went Geotherming back.

"And hast thou slain the Kazzerwock?
Come to my arms, my Brentish boy!
Oh Kabbage day!  François, Friday!"
   He Lotteled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy Froctos
did gyre and gimble in the sei.
All mimsy were the Romosomes
   and the Esperaths outgrabe.

Online Hookers / Wanna play some Starcraft?
« on: January 16, 2010, 11:34:58 AM »
Every couple years, I feel the urge to reinstall Starcraft and play until my wrists bleed.  This usually involves getting killed by Friday a couple times.

Anyway, would anyone be interested in playing?  I will probably be in a Starcraft mood for the next couple weeks, so post here if you'd be interested in kekeke-ing it up.  Hell, if there's enough interest, we could even get some group games going.

Gaming Discussion / The Great Video Game Soundtrack Purge of 2K9
« on: November 01, 2009, 10:56:30 PM »
Hi everyone, I am pawning off a bunch of my old video game soundtracks.  I used to collect these things back in the late '90s, but now they are just collecting dust and would rather see them with an owner who actually wants these.  All of the soundtracks are official releases and are usually the original printing.  Some of the cases have minor cracks, anything beyond that will be documented.  I will test all CDs before shipping them out, and will take photos on demand.

Lyrai called dibs on a few soundtracks, but the rest of these are up for grabs.  I'll probably dump the undesirables on VGMdb sometime in December.  Prices are negotiable and will probably give bulk discounts as I am too lazy to deal with a bunch of shipping crap.

Anyway, the list:

Yasunori Mitsuda:
Chrono Trigger OSV (Polystar PSCN-5021-3, 3 CDs) Lyrai
Chrono Trigger The Brink of Time (I think I sent this out in a past PDS)
Chrono Cross OST (DigiCube SSCX 10040, 3 CDs) Lyrai
Xenogears OST (DigiCube SSCX 10013, 2 CDs) McDohl
Xenogears Creid (DigiCube SSCX 10018) McDohl
Xenosaga OST (DigiCube SSCX 10062-10063, 2 CDs) McDohl

Yoko Shimomura:
Parasite Eve OST (DigiCube SSCX 10020, 2 CDs) (case has some scratches/cracks)
Legend of Mana OST (DigiCube SSCX 10034, 2 CDs) Lyrai
Kingdom Hearts OST (Toshiba EMI TOCT-24768-9, 2 CDs) Envy

Nobuo Uematsu OSVs:
Final Fantasy IV OSV (Polystar PSCN-5014)
Final Fantasy V OSV (Polystar PSCN-5015-6, 2 CDs) McDohl
Final Fantasy VI OSV (Polystar PSCN-5001-3) McDohl
Final Fantasy VII OST (DigiCube SSCX 10004, 4 CDs)
Final Fantasy VIII OST Limited Edition (DigiCube SSCX 10028, 4 CDs) McDohl

Other official Nobuo Uematsu/Final Fantasy:
Final Fantasy Symphonic Suite (Polystar PSCR-5253)
Final Fantasy IV Celtic Moon (Polystar PSCN-5017)
Final Fantasy V Dear Friends (Polystar PSCN-5018)
Final Fantasy VI Grand Finale (Polystar PSCN-5004) (Disc has a couple of scratches but plays fine)
Final Fantasy Vocal Collections I - Pray (Polystar PSCN-5006)
Final Fantasy Vocal Collections II - Love Will Grow (Polystar PSCN-5041)
Final Fantasy Mix (Polystar PSCN-5012) Newbie

Other official releases:
Final Fantasy Tactics OST (DigiCube SSCX 10008, 2 CDs, case is cracked, but comes with a neat poster!) Newbie
SaGa Frontier II OST (DigiCube SSCX 10031, 3 CDs) Newbie
Secret of Mana+ (I think I sent this out in a past PDS)

KFSS mixes:
Project Majestic Mix Silver Edition (1509/3000) Newbie
Squaredance Newbie

Forum Games / DF Succession: Welcome to Lancerblameless
« on: October 13, 2009, 02:37:22 PM »
Some basic info for all of the players before we start pretending to be short fatties with beards.

The lastest "official" release of Dwarf Fortress is: v0.28.181.40d, which is what I am using.

This map is heavily forested, moderate temperature, has a river, sand, a magma pipe, flux, medium evil/wildness, and a crapload of nearby civilizations.

The area I chose is 3x3 and flat as hell to maximize FPS.  I didn't specify 'other features' on my area search, so this zone probably doesn't have hidden fun stuff.  We'll just have to make our own fun.

Turn order is:

201: Esperath (Completed)
202: Newbie (Completed)
203: Shinra (lol)
203: Doom (Completed)
204: Norondor (lol)
204: Zaratustra (Active)
205: Smiler

Gaming Discussion / Living on five single player games
« on: August 23, 2009, 03:08:08 AM »
The scenario: You are alone in a dark and desolate future, but you have food, water, air, and five video games to keep you sane for the rest of your days.  Which five would make the cut?

Rules: Single-player games only.  You can choose a game with multiplayer content, but the multiplayer function won't work.  Single-player Flash games that you would normally access via the Internet are fine.  Games with a single expansion can still be considered a single game.

My five:

1. Nethack - I can ascend dozens of times and still keep coming back.
2. Dwarf Fortress - Drowning in content, and would keep me entertained for much longer than most other games.
3. Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Already put hundreds of hours into this game, and wouldn't mind playing hundreds more.
4. The Sims 3 - I normally wouldn't put this on any of my 'top' lists, but after a few years of being alone, I'd probably crave any semblance of human interaction.  Who knows, I'd probably whack it to Sims WooHooing.
5. Baldur's Gate II + Throne of Bhaal - I <3 D&D, and this is the best of the PC D&D games.  And I'd be so love-starved that the romances would actually be appealing.

Honorable mentions:
Desktop Tower Defense: Flash-based crack.
Starcraft + Brood War: Lack of multiplayer really strips the game of most of its appeal, but is still my favorite RTS.
Alpha Centauri - Still the best 4x in my opinion.
