Also taking suggestions for new thread title since Steam is no longer the only reasonable option for games purchasing in this generation.

I agree. Whenever I see a post in this thread I instinctively toss credit cards out the door so I don't lose all my money.

(Especially since it's gotten to the point where I noticed a receipt from Steam in my inbox and couldn't for the fucking LIFE of me remember what I purchased.  I guess I bought Puzzle Quest?  Apparently?  Is this what it's like when alcoholics find a mysterious empty bottle of Jack in their underwear drawer?)

FotNS: Ken's Rage for tenbux on either console.

Back to regular price for PS3 already, but not X-Box, which means it was probably supposed to be a 360-only deal to begin with.  There have been a LOT of 360 fire sales since the thing got shitcanned in Japan, and it's a little disturbing.

Alpha Protocol is 2 dollars right now. Flawed as it is, it's more than worth that price.

Duke Nukem Forever DLC released. If you're a first access club member, log onto the site and punch the key into Steam or whatnot to get it for free.

Also Duke is $10 until Thursday.

THQ Week. Monday was Metro 2033, Tuesday was Titan quest. Today is Red Faction day. I'm waiting for a Warhammer day to grab all the DLC for the game. Still missing a few!

Oh hahaha, I bought the PS3 version of DNF for fucking $60, now it's on steam for $20? And currently on sale for half that?

...That's usually a sign that a game has flopped miserably, isn't it? "Here, we'll drop the price, we'll release DLC, just PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEAAAAAASE BUY OUR SHIT!"

Honestly, if it gets new people in the multiplayer I'm all for that.

I haven't tried the multiplayer yet, and I'm still stuck in the casinos in campaign. This game doesn't seem bad to me, it just seems not good.

It was not well-received.

It was never going to be worth the wait, but it wound up not even living up to people's modest expectations.  From the reviews, it's got DNF's crassness but none of its charm or creativity.  I've read that Serious Sam is the game DNF should have been.

Sort of. If you love to shoot hordes of enemies, occasionally hear one-liners, and have tons of goofy secrets, yes, Serious Sam has all that. Also a pile of weapons stuffed in hammerspace.

That...does sound a lot like what I want out of a Duke Nukem game, yes.

Well, highly recommend the HD remakes of First and Second Encounter, and I'll get back to you on BFE when it comes out. Just understand that the game is about 95% killing enemies while trying desperately not to be killed.

It defines the Running Backwards While Shooting school of level design. In fact, there is to be an RPG spinoff in which the battle screen has your party constantly running backwards.
