While that's a shame, I didn't get into the head start AND I'm doing RL stuff all weekend AND I'm not going to play a minute of the game on Monday AND I'm going to roll an entirely new character on Tuesday.  So I am already totally resigned to not being able to play with you guys pretty much ever at this point.

My difference engine can't parse this game.  Disregard statements made to Toaste re: me playing.

They reactivated the accounts affected by this. Apparently people were going to "boycott" the game they couldn't play, but were desperate to. I was just going to play Clear Sky, personally, disappointed as I was.

also apparantly if you do not meet minspecs (my mom's laptop is pretty much just under) the game does not run like shit, it just refuses to run at all.  oh well.  it's not like i was actually going to play today.

ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS MAKE MY CHARACTERS, MYTHIC.  ;_;

Is there some sort of online character creator demo?  That's always my favorite part of those games.

Not that I'm aware of.  Pretty much every character has about 20 different ways they can be horribly disfigured!

Even if it did run it's not very much fun waiting five minutes to walk and then crashing because of the lag caused by those three Bloody Sun Boyz patrolling the newbie area.

hence why all i wanted to do was make my characters.  :(  and maybe spin them around on the character screen until they got dizzy (try it, it's fun!)

My system beats all the specs and then the game runs all skippy and shit.  Probably because I run the only single-core CPU still on the internet.

Taking the game pretty slow since I've had an overtime workweek, but even at low levels the PvP is a blast (esp. now that scenarios work again).  The lakes are a great mechanic and combine the best of Alterac Valley and TM/Southshore.  Even though first-tier is a little imbalanced because people are queueing up before they even have a second ability, once you get up a little (which I didn't have the patience to do in beta and I'm glad I still picked up the game) you can really tell that they had a heavy PvP focus in designing.

I'm really in love with the action points mechanic as it really solves a lot of the problems with spellcasters in other games (also that you learn, like, 50 spells and they all scale by level and stats).  The backlash mechanic also works as beautifully for checking Sorc in PvP as it does in PvE to compliment the lack of manapool.

But it sure doesn't stop you from destroying the entire other team if you have a competent tank and healer.

The thing that makes me so fucking hard is that PVP Tanking is real and it works like a fucking dream. When I'm protecting someone, using taunts and guard, among other abilities, I can tell, and so can they. You can that beautiful "Get the fuck away from my healer" feeling, and the abilities to back it up.

I'd like to request some in-game pictures of your soon-to-be epic characters, if it's not too much trouble.

What?  Taunting works against players?

Do they become unable to attack anyone except you for a specific amount of time?

IIRC they get a debuff on them that makes them take extra damage from the person taunting them until they turn to attack them a few times.

Taunt causes the effected player to take additional damage from the taunter until they hit him three times, and do less damage to any target they hit that is not the tank. This, combined with guard, can cause an attacking enemy to do truly insignificant amounts of damage. The overall idea is to make the tank a high enough priority target that he will be attack instead of anyone else.
