Unless things change a lot by the time it hits Western shores, I don't see it gaining traction with anyone but Lineage-level masochists.

Hopefully, the game will feel less beta and drawn out, by then.

Don't worry, when they introduce the advanced classes you won't want to wait for the Western release.

Yeah, I'm not hopeful, having read about them.
In September, three new classes and five new weapon categories are going to be implemented into the game. The new classes are in similar line with the 3 existing classes consisting of close range combat, long distance combat, and tech and you’ll be able to use the new weapon categories with these classes.

Sakai added a clause to the PSO2 terms of service which basically forbids other countries from playing it.
...
One of the reasons for this TOS change is to make it easier to address malicious users. Unfortunately it appears most of the malicious acts are coming from overseas territories.
...
if malicious acts from overseas players continue, they will be forced to take drastic measures.
Wonder whether they'll start blocking foreign IPs.

All of this really bothers me, because the combat's pretty fun. It's so much easier when games are just shitty, as opposed to fun but mired in incredibly shitty decisions.

So I'm on Ship 2 if anyone wants to play. I'm training up for the beach level that was leaked.

"New planet: Unknown name (area is "Coast"). Has a boss arena being worked on, but no idea how it'll be (doesn't even have a debug warp-to command)."

There's also a English patch on that site, but it leaves the items in Japanese.  ::(:

Moonrunes can be modded out. Most of this stuff can't, unless we develop private servers.

Nope, that's mostly still there. Game's still kind of bad.

The game is PSO.

If you were able to find joy from grinding against space penguins and robohorses in the original, this one is an improvement.

If you've played games with mechanics developed in the last ten years, this is a step back.

It's less the combat mechanics than the horrific progression barriers. Guess I'll skip it.
