Except that if anything touches you before about... level 10, you die.

It also affects your ideal Smithing progression path and bear in mind that Light Armor goes roughly Elven -> Glass -> Dagron while Heavy Armor tags Daedric and Ebony. And Ebony weapons are better than Glass and you need the perk to upgrade them to be doubly so.

As it is right now I've got Dragonscale Armor and Glass weapons but since I have Glass Smithing Perk and not Ebony, I can't actually upgrade Ebony weapons I find to beat my Glass weapons I've made and ugpraded.

Also the sneaking penalties matter a lot when you start dealing with serious fucking guards and the insane glass cannon Forsworn, who can apparently smell you.

Yeah, both of the sneaking penalties are negated with the weightlessness perks, but I could even see that changing in a patch. The real difference, as norondor pointed out, is with the stamina regeneration you can get with light armor. Personally I've gone around arrowing people in the face and light armor doesn't really help when they get all in my face.

being a mage is rad for this reason, i am finding out, since i can just wear fancy dress clothes and put invisible ice bombs where people usually like to walk :>

one wouldn't expect a weapon made quite obviously from a fallen branch and a wolf tooth to be able to chop your arms and legs clean off through dragonbone plate armor but life's just full of surprises

So by being in equal parts being afraid to spend perk points and not specializing in one mode of combat at the start I've made the game unreasonably difficult.
The only reason I'm able to muddle through is because my HouseCarl is a crazy badass who loves to charge into battle and never stops getting back up.

There's really no reason to be worried about specializing in ANYTHING... honest to god, put points wherever you like and it'll turn out ok.

Cohorts can die if you hit them when they're knocked down. If your cohort is down on one knee and surrounded by enemies, and you FUS RO DAH into the crowd, you can kill your cohort.

With the healing buff and magicka reduction you can use healing to get you through 90% of frontal attacks.

Two handed weapons are for orcs. All you have to do is sleep before each dungeon and then you never have to worry about bosses ever. Because you will kill them all in two hits and never get hurt.

So, I was in the inn at Markarth, when I accidentally stole a piece of raw beef because an NPC I was attempting to talk to moved slightly to the left. As a result, I angered the innkeeper and a guard was summoned to administer a fine (two gold). After going down to the jail and paying my fine, I was off on my way and headed out of Markarth to seek adventure.

After assisting a kindly old hagraven in retaking her tower, three thugs burst into the tower and began trying to bodily harm me. Once I'd finished the three, I found a contract on explaining that they had been hired by the keeper of the inn to teach me a lesson. Three thugs to seek vengeance for accidentally stealing one raw beef. Innkeepers need better priorities.

This happened to me also. Except the person that the contract was atributed to was the CHILD of the family whose house I had been robbing. I was a little pissed about the whole ordeal but all and all I thought it was awesome.
