I don't know, I'm just not seeing anything that concretely says "there won't be a peaceful option anymore," and since it would take 0 effort to maintain a mode where enemy mobs don't spawn, I can't imagine why they would remove it.

Jeb said later on Twitter that he mis-interpreted the question: when asked "Survival as it exists currently - will it exist in any form after 1.8?", he said no, meaning that Survival 1.8 will replace Survival 1.7, not that Survival as a game mode would be retired.

It won't be long until release, so I'll wait and see instead of relying on speculation and hastily-interpreted tweets.

Do you plan on killing Zanzibarland when version 1.8 is released?

I'm always in favor of spawning a new world when a significant change to the game comes. See: Survival Multiplayer actually being interesting.

I just like the ability to start fresh and to get new starter biomes.

I will be rebooting bigshell. I don't know what people want to do with zanzibarland.
I'll be trying to move some structures from bigshell to the new server, assuming I can get hold of the old files. If you guys have any votes for what should be moved, do share.

Can I just reiterate--as I have like 4 times in this thread--that I want a copy of bigshell, broken as it is, before we reset the universe.

My votes on "things to save" would probably include the minecorpse tower, Kayin's floating islands, LOGAL, Castle Sideways, and honestly I could keep going but that's the whole reason I want a local copy of the map. I'm still miffed that I wasn't able to get a copy before militant radicals blew up Ft. Stacktus.

There's a subdirectory for archives that Zara should have access to now.  He can just copy the server on over there and zip it up for whoever wants it.

Also, probably some earlier versions without the Libyan architecture.

It took me a moment to get this.

No to saving stuff on bigshell. Saving stuff means saving map, saving map means having to move far from spawn to start seeing new biome features, which basically defeats the purpose of a new map. Especially a survival map in my opinion.

if you can move the spawn somehow I approve of starting the new map with bigshell, otherwise I'd prefer it to be clean. I also don't care that much if you wipe zanzibarland instead, though I'd like a copy to remember skytown by

I won't be porting the chunks. I'll be using MAGICAL MOD FEATURES to uplift the building from the ground and copy-paste it into the new world. Which is why I need the list to be limited.

also uh what access I didn't get any access yet

Alright, links to backup files:

"big shell creative" - http://www.mediafire.com/?cec1iejyv1rq2kf
"big shell survival" - http://www.mediafire.com/?9gr1ukdt6g79t1u
"zanzibarland" - http://www.mediafire.com/?1tt4tjs17iisala
"bigshell beta" - http://www.mediafire.com/?9r13plz0ksn3pkv
"nov 30 beta" - http://www.mediafire.com/?f4b2k30t4o0619i
"dec 31 beta" - http://www.mediafire.com/?7kwi1111sb1p0s6

I have no idea how you use these files yet. The beta archives use the old beta format with the .dat files and the nested directories and the mmhey.

Bigshell creative is the map when it exploded I guess. The survival map was the one a few people and I were playing on for a bit.

This is the house that inefficiency built.

This is the most absurdly inefficient house. The walls are made from bookcase, and must be rebuilt from scratch when a creeper hits it. The floor is gold block and workbenches, and the ceiling is iron block and jukeboxes. The front door is obsidian and jukeboxes.

APPARENTLY, if you put a saddle on a pig, then force that pig into a minecart, then ride said pig-in-minecart, it propels itself along the rails without need for redstone or bumpers or whatever.
