I've seen Ringo Starr too :3
<3<3

I cannot believe how stupid I was about those Flight of the Conchords tickets though.  I didn't check the site that listed dates til mere days after all of the shows went on sale.  So you know, I missed it by like, 3 days, and then I got no tickets.  Ever.

I enjoyed the show, but I was about 2 football fields away from the band.  Plus the tickets start at $38, then added $10 for a "convenience fee" (read skimming) and then an additional $15 for parking.  The band was good, but I hate the concert experience.  Over priced tickets for a chance to sit in a seat while watching the tiny band off in the distance.  I much prefer smaller venues where I stand a chance of meeting the band after the concert.  Plus at larger venues I'm treated like pond scum because the lens on my camera is detachable.

Which is why I'm so happy I'll be seeing Bonnie 'Prince' Billy next weekend.  It's at a theater that I absolutely love and the musicians tend to hang around and mingle before and after the concerts.

If I didn't like the concert experience, I would never go to a show--it's just too expensive.  This is why I would never want to see Ween in a place that's seating-only ever again.

Like any sports game, the only reason to go to a concert is to get drunk and crowd with people who watch the same crap as you do.

...come to think of it, is there an anime con with an open bar anywhere?

Funny the subject of concerts came up. I was checking Bif Naked's website last night on a whim. Turns out she's gonna be playing at a bar near here next week. Come heck or high water, I'm going.

Few thoughts are more horrifying.

In the GOOD N00Z department, I got my tax return. $3000 is good. Of course, paying out most of that to clear assorted debts isn't as much fun as just getting a big chunk o' change, but HEY I'M NOT COMPLAINING.

Aren't most anime conventions held in motels anyway?

Saw him twice.  The first one was awesome, the second was disappointing.  It's really about who he has with him.  Frampton was at the first one.

Well, and sports games are generally broadcast on TV while concerts usually aren't.  Concerts are more scripted than (non-wrestling) sporting events, of course, but there's certainly spontanaiety involved, especially with an act like Conchords or Spinal Tap where there's a lot of bullshitting between songs.

After reclaiming the balcony from pigeons last month we got our new barbecue last night.

Then we consumed MEAT. That had been cooked WITH FIRE.

So my Toby dog is expected to make a full recovery. Until then, we're using a special harness to pick up his immobile and unfeeling back leg, so he may walk with his front legs to go to the bathroom. He's to remain in a single room for 3 more weeks. In two weeks, the sutures along his back will be removed. So happy to have my dog remain with me.

In other news, I was paid money to sit with little kids and color in pictures with them at work today. It was quite fun to actually interact with the children in ways other than "Get your mom for this M-rated game."

Post your awesome days here, god damn it, because the good times aren't as celebrated as the bad times.

I'm a step closer to perfecting my hot dog recipe.

It involves cabbage and provolone.

You have a friend named Raven, too? That's... odd. You're in Toronto?

I can't believe that I'm sharing a kebab with the most beautiful girl I have ever seen with a kebab.

...I'm reluctant to load this thread up with too much "I think my girlfriend is pretty great" stuff because I've always thought that kind of thing was pretty gauche.  But I'm guessing most people won't have paroxysms of envy when I say I just spent more than an hour on the phone with her (she's out of town) and most of it was spent in political debate.

That falls somewhere behind "she took care of me while I was sick" in this week's reasons she's a keeper, but I have to admit we're a good match.

It IS really tough to avoid doing that, especially because my fiancee is such an integral part of my life. However, I will use this post to say that I just got home from having sex in a church parking lot.  :holy:

If I'm reading this thread correctly, Thad posted on the boards from an iPhone while out to dinner to talk about how he was having a kebab with a beautiful girl while his girlfriend was out of town.
