The Pokemon series is often about as epic and series as you feel it is, though I sometimes feel it could be a bit more. A bit cooler. And then we get badass motherfuckers like Cyrus to show that maybe somebody at Nintendo thinks so too. If only the AI/Encounter guy could be arsed to make Team <Game Villain Group> Pokemon set-ups a bit more dangerous. Ah well. Cyrus carries his theme and his robotic, grim-faced determination with the best of them.

And come on, who didn't feel a little epic'd out when THIS cocksucker showed up?

Castlevania Judgement, huh.

I guess we must look for good music wherever we can find it, even in games that are absolute abortions.

Chrono Cross is enjoyable until it becomes terrible. Particularly due to the music..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu6Avd-pClo&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U5nelkxMKQ&feature=related

But I'm not sure what else you could call an ending that amounts to esoteric, irritating and stupid.. on top of having the plot spoon-fed to you by stand-in NPCs.. other than an abortion?

And I found the fight with Miguel to be EASY, so I actually give Cross a lot more breathing room than the average person who tries to hate it.

Hell, thinking about it, I love a lot about Cross except that the terrible bits stand out so dramatically they ruin the experience, much like the crunch of a roach would ruin a delicious piece of cake. I still routinely go to "Prisoners of Fate" for inspiration.

Whenever I play Chrono Cross, I typically just sort of gloss over the long bits of exposition linking the game to Chrono Trigger. For me the final boss is that epic dragon god, and the Time Devourer is just a bonus battle. Like a really easy Omega Weapon, or something.

Subsequently, I feel this makes the overall Chrono Cross experience far more enjoyable.

Right exactly. Chrono Cross is great when the game ends at Dragon God!

Speaking of Chrono Cross... I use the iPip player in Fallout 3, and this is my favorite song when it comes up while I'm exploring the overworld:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52htcy2_QMk

I also use most of the Baroque soundtrack, because the atmosphere fits so incredibly well. Especially this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vtQ1J7h2qE&feature=PlayList&p=C515EBE91B2DB9D1&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=2

And these are extremely perfect for battle:

It's not like Fallout 3 doesn't have good music, but I found the game is much better when it is subtly poignant and atmospheric than when it tries to be clever or funny (mostly because it fails so often at the latter).

Am I reposting?  I'm not slogging through 15 pages to find out.

This is all Doom's fault anyway.

..."Battle in the opening story"?  That's a selling point?
