Crouton: Holy shit, man, here I was thinking Stupidest Post in This Thread was a legitimately tough competition and you just walked away with it like you never even broke a sweat.

Sora's gone, Guild's gone, 3rd string represent?

I'll ask the same question more politely. Which do you guys think is more sexist? The hostility towards her because she's a girl who doesn't know what she's talking about, or the defensive reaction to support her because she's a girl who doesn't know what she's talking about?

Is sexism a problem in gaming? Absolutely. Does Sarkeesian know her shit? I personally doubt it.

That's something you're taught to do in basic English composition, so uhh, sure?

Perhaps, but in basic scientific composition, we're taught to acknowledge all the facts we come across and not just those that pertain to our hypothesis. The purpose of research and practical application is to find out whether or not our argument holds water.

So A in English, F in Science.

What I want right now, and I'm serious, is for Aisha Tyler to do these same exact videos, making whatever changes she feels she needs to make (which are probably substantial).  That would probably make the question of who's angry at what a lot clearer.
Seconded.

Better question then. Which is more sexist, the nerds defending the status quo by raging against everything she says, or the nerds who defend her position because they want to bang her? Personally I think the latter since whiteknighting contributes to the notion that women are helpless and need defending.

Something that bother's me about her arguments/research is that I can't help but wonder if she's come across games that offer valuable counterpoints to her analysis, and intentionally avoided bringing them up as a result.

I still use it... but then I also still play 2fort.

A spy can still stab a heavy even if he's on fire you know.

Why must you tell all my secrets?

I cannot stress how much these invasions cater to Kayin's Hentai Rape fetish, right down to the victim enjoying it by the end.

I don't think Osha is mentioned by name enough to warrant the change either, at least I don't recall seeing her name in the books very often. The Robert-Robin change never bothered me since his mother calls him sweetrobin in the books all the time.

This is what happens when everyone names their kids after the same 5 famous people in the world.

It started much earlier than that with a one-off character named Mr. Derp. But yeah, same premise. I always took it to mean "There was no word to describe how dumb that was, so we made one!"

Few things get the e-peen going in an MMO faster than "I've been playing since launch!" so I'm sure it will get them some subs. However, an early adopter title will only mean anything if the game actually lasts a few years with a respectable player base OTHER than the people who bought it at launch.

Oh I get it now! EA's gonna hire all the players they banned. They've been planning it all along, right?

By more dynamic than WoW, do you mean the combat text scrolls in every direction except up?

At most, I think the one guy that found & leaked the exploit was banned, but I'm pretty sure Valve just took the wrenches away, then folks started destroying them for charity.

I would imagine just as many as they banned for using Civilian Heavy (may he rest in peace).

TO CLARIFY: Yes, using the /getdown command to interrupt an enemy's attacks and killing it with impunity via this, I'd call that an exploit
But still
"Dancing is not permitted except in designated dance zones" is a fucking hilarious quote.

I think the party bursting into a synchronized dance SHOULD interrupt/stun enemy NPCs, but only once per encounter.

The thing is, guy-on-guy action is, in most parts of the U.S. anyway, largely treated like rape whether it's consensual or not.

Actually, you do. Not so much for clothing specifically these days, but certainly for having smartphones out in the wrong neighborhood. It doesn't get publicized as much but the sentiment is definitely there.

A million times this.

Koi Kaze maybe? Prettymuch the same plot except
the girl is the MC's sister, and I mean his ACTUAL sister. Not a step sibling, not adopted, REAL SISTER, and he feels guilty and miserable about crushing on her the whole time. It's played straight and lacks any fanservice, which makes it a bit creepier, I think.
