That one is rather atypical of the series, but Yakuza is basically just Shenmue with a name-change and mafia, which makes it pretty worthwhile in my opinion. I played a bit of Yakuza 3 and it was very nice and polished.

I choose to believe that any similarities between Dante and that dude are entirely coincidental.

I wouldn't mind half as much if the guy didn't look like a mutated giraffe.  I don't want to play as mutated giraffe.

Given DMC is in the BIG THREE of homosexual pornography, I don't think he really thought this through.

The problem with making a real DMC sequel is that, chronologically, DMC2 is actually the latest game in the timeline, and they're running out of places to stuff other events. So, faced with the terrifying prospect of recognizing DMC2 as something they actually made, they've decided to start over.

Okay.

What are they going to do to pretend this one wasn't made?

Probably the same thing. Though, to be fair, DMC, Bayonetta, and Ninja Gaiden, the top tier games of that ilk, all have terrible stories and characters. Some of them are doing it ironically, but so long as the fight mechanics are good, no core fans care.

Something interesting from the Tokyo Gaming show: apparently foreign games were being pushed hard.

Quote
At the Tokyo Game Show, which runs from Thursday to Sunday here, many of the big games on the show floor are being developed outside Japan. Square Enix’s most popular franchises — like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, games that move millions of units in Japan alone — are relegated to a small corner of the company’s massive booth.

Instead, the majority of Square Enix’s show-floor space is given over to Western-made games it is publishing this year under the label Extreme Edges, a new brand for “mature” titles. The games include Call of Duty, Deus Ex and Lara Croft, the kind of high-end titles that do well in the United States but haven’t taken off in Japan.

I like how the moral of that story is "The Japanese hate our freedom."

Honestly I think they're just marketing these games wrong, though.  Instead of pounding the pulpit about the unfocused nature of Fallout, which is a negative to your target audience, try to rebrand it as something more palatable to them.  Like a sim game.  Racettear seemed fairly open, even if there was an inexorable movement towards some type of endgame; if you bill Fallout as a post-disaster survival simulator in which you scavenge for resources while working to uncover the secret of of your missing father, I guarun-fucking-tee the nips will eat that shit up with a spoon.  Possible bonus points for pointing out that it takes place in the twisted wreckage of Washington D.C. after it was A-bombed into a pancake, though supposedly they're still queasy enough about that that they had to take out the one actual A-bomb in the game.
