If you're talking about the Far Cry 2 review, he was faking a South African accent, because the game takes place in South Africa or something I guess.  It didn't mix very well with his fast delivery style.

PC version of Gears of War turned off for everyone.

Probably not intentional on their part.  But hardline anti-DRM guys are having a field day over this one.

Mount and Blade is getting an expansion.

I suppose there's potential in the multiplayer thing, but if it's just deathmatch I'm worried it'll get old really fast. The rest of the stuff sounds pretty good though.

Sometimes I wonder if DRM devs secretly hate DRM as much as everybody else and are deliberately sabotaging it.  Like those Tom Tomorrow strips where George Bush, Karl Rove, and Dick Cheney are secretly '60's radicals who decided to bring down the Republican Party from the inside.

To my mind it makes more sense than anyone being stupid enough to think that an expiration date that can be thwarted by changing the system clock is going to prevent anyone from pirating a game.  As I've said before, I'm not always very good at following Hanlon's Razor.

Well, to be fair, putting an expiration date on your game based on the system clock is about as stupid as DRM that shuts off the game at a given arbitrary date without any warning.

Makes sense to me.  How many programmers and coders believe in DRM?  It's practically antithetical to the subculture.

Professional programmers believe in giving their client the product they asked for, however stupid.

I see it as a breath of fresh air if their ultimate device to prevent you from playing software that you may have gotten from a download rental service or whatever their plans with it are can be bested by changing a 9 to an 8.

Basically.  If someone had asked me to write this thing I would have noted once what the huge obvious flaw is, then after that kept my mouth shut and charged for my goddam time.  As long as it didn't nuke China or anything I'll let my client stab his eyeballs out with it all he wants.

I like the level of realism.

Like how they very accurately portrayed what happens to your teeth if you keep biting hard plastic accessories.

Dawn of War 2 has gone the not stupid route for copy protection, is using Steam.  (and games for windows live for matchmaking for some reason)
